Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Old Friend

On the surface above Sanguinem.

At this moment, more than a dozen members of the Hyakuya Sect were gathered here, many of whom were elites.

After Rig rescued Yuichiro and Mika, he was about to close the dimensional rift.

But just a moment before the rift could fully close, the tip of a longsword pierced through from within, perfectly wedging it open.

Rig felt a flicker of surprise; he hadn't expected Luke to have such a trick up his sleeve.

Rig raised his hand, and the sect members all took their stances, ready to attack the moment Luke and Krul appeared.

Then, under the watchful eyes of Rig and the Hyakuya Sect members, the sword sliced the rift open.

Luke was the first to emerge. As soon as he appeared, he felt a massive wave of hostility from his surroundings. Just as he was about to act, he felt a powerful force hit his buttocks, causing him to stumble forward several steps.

Boom!

Many of the minor skills prepared by the Hyakuya Sect members missed, and the few that remained were evaded by Luke in time.

"Don't block the way."

Krul stepped out a few seconds after Luke.

Luke looked at Krul resentfully, like a mistreated little wife.

How could Krul not know that there was a high probability of an ambush outside? That kick was partly to save him and partly to tease him.

Krul broke into a smile.

"Don't look at me like that. Didn't I just save you?"

Luke patted his buttocks.

"Sigh, I don't know who corrupted you; you're nothing like your husband."

Krul didn't bother to retort, treating Luke's words as mere nonsense. She withdrew her gaze and looked at Rig.

"What? You only arranged one round of attacks?"

Rig spread his hands helplessly.

"With their level, only a surprise attack would be effective. Since you two are already on guard, there's naturally no need to make a fool of myself."

Then, Rig changed the subject.

"Luke, can you give me the sin key now? Last time, you quite wickedly snatched one from me."

Luke looked puzzled and said,

"When did I ever say I would give it to you?"

Rig started using twisted logic while extending his right hand.

"You ultimately relied on me to get out, so please give me the sin key."

After getting to know Luke better, he now realized that he couldn't negotiate with this guy normally; he had to use twisted logic to defeat twisted logic!

Luke didn't expect Rig to also embark on the path of shamelessness.

Wait, why use the word 'also'?

"Hey, Rig, you're the one behind this earthquake, right?"

Krul noticed some black lines on the ground nearby, which seemed to be a large-scale Cursed Formation. She guessed this was the culprit behind the earthquake.

Rig smiled.

"It does have something to do with me, but this Cursed Formation isn't the culprit. If you don't believe me..."

Rig made a gesture, and the Cursed Formation on the ground suddenly surged with cursed power.

Krul and Luke's expressions changed instantly. They suddenly felt as if their feet weighed a thousand pounds; their movements were restricted, making it difficult to move.

"Wok! You were camping us here all along?"

Rig smiled and shook his head. With a change of his gesture, four earthen walls rose, surrounding Luke and Krul.

"No, no, no, this was prepared for another guest, but you two are just special guests."

After saying that, Rig held his dimensional gun and sliced through the void... at the Sanguinem exit passage.

"Tsk! Am I a step too late?"

Lest Karr curled his lip and kicked the passage blocked by rubble in front of him, his tone full of dissatisfaction.

"What is Krul doing? Just an earthquake could cause the underground to collapse!"

Guren looked at the passage behind them, which had also collapsed.

"It seems Her Majesty and Mr. Luke haven't caught up."

Lest Karr mocked them heartlessly.

"Heh, who cares about them? They're probably buried alive, hahaha!"

Urd spoke slowly.

"Lest Karr, you've been talking quite a bit since arriving in Japan."

Lest Karr wiped away his smile and lowered his head.

"My apologies, Lord Urd. I will be more careful in the future."

Because he had coveted Krul's position for a long time, and combined with the frustration the Ancestor Council Meeting had suffered at the hands of Luke, Lest Karr had subconsciously been looking for ways to pick a fight with Krul since arriving in Japan.

Urd snorted coldly but didn't press the matter further.

"The Progenitor isn't much faster than us. It's still a long distance to the outside, so he's likely trapped in some section or even buried."

Guren scratched his head.

"How are we going to get out? Dig a tunnel?"

Urd frowned; this was indeed a problem.

With their physical capabilities, digging a tunnel wasn't difficult, but where would they find the Progenitor then?

But it seemed that was the only way.

Guren, being a man of action, had already begun digging with his First-class Armament, while Lest Karr was still waiting for Urd's orders.

At that moment, Urd suddenly pulled Guren back, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the spot where Guren had just been.

A spatial rift appeared, and Urd saw Rig on the other side, feeling a strange sense of familiarity.

Rig smiled as he looked at Urd.

"What, don't recognize me? I hope you've been well, Urd."

Urd's pupils shrank slightly, but his expression remained stoic.

"Rig?!"

As high-ranking ancestors, Lest Karr and Guren naturally knew of Rig, but this Man in a Suit before them was quite different from the lord in their memories!

Rig stared at Urd's face, hoping to see excitement and surprise. After a long silence from both sides, Rig said with some disappointment,

"Is this the only reaction after seeing me after so long? I'm truly heartbroken."

Urd narrowed his eyes, sizing Rig up.

"Your appearance has certainly changed a lot."

The smile returned to Rig's face.

"It's just outward appearance, why care?"

Urd snorted coldly. He was now certain that this guy was Rig; that familiar feeling could not be mistaken!

Rig continued,

"We can exchange pleasantries later. I've come to rescue you."

Urd was somewhat suspicious. Would this guy really be so kind?

Rig naturally saw through Urd's concerns.

"Has my image in your heart become so untrustworthy after a thousand years?"

As fellow ancestors and the first two to follow the Progenitor, Urd chose to trust his old friend once, despite his reservations.

As soon as Urd emerged, Rig stepped back and waved his hand, restricting Urd's movements.

Urd's eyes widened.

I treat you like a brother, and you stab me in the back!

"You set me up?"

Rig shook his head and explained,

"You misunderstand. Given our relationship, how could I harm you? I just hope you'll be more cooperative. I've also sensed Sigmado's presence, which is why I came. Urd, you know it; he turned us into subordinates against our will and then abandoned us. This time, I must let him know that even we, the lowly ants, can bite off a piece of his flesh!"

Rig grew more excited as he spoke, but he was met only with Urd's silence.

After a long while, Urd spoke helplessly.

"You still haven't given up?"

Rig smiled and turned to his subordinates.

"Take him away. As long as it's reasonable, try to satisfy his requests."

Lest Karr and the other ancestor, still on the other side of the rift, were stunned. Lord Urd seemed to have been restrained, leaving them unsure whether to cross over or not.

After glancing at each other, Lest Karr made a decision.

"Let's go over; staying here won't solve anything."

As he spoke, he prepared to step through the rift, but just as he moved his foot, the rift closed, and he stepped directly onto the pile of rubble.

The atmosphere suddenly became slightly awkward.

Lest Karr began to suspect he was in a Japanese version of 'Final Destination'; it felt like all of Japan was hostile toward him.

Guren, lacking much social tact, said nonchalantly,

"Lord Lest Karr, you were a step too slow. You didn't make it through."
