Back in Sanguinem.
Luke felt he should go check on his "good buddy."
"Wow, Ferid, you've really taken a liking to hot pot lately, haven't you? That's some serious heat!"
Luke looked at the flaming figure on the cross, feeling a bit of schadenfreude.
Ferid weakly turned towards the direction of the voice, a smile cracking on his charred, barely recognizable face.
"Luke, you're so cold. Isn't it about time you let me down?"
Luke hurriedly waved his hands.
"I wouldn't dare! Guren escaped because you let him go. The punishment was set by Krul. I'm just an employee here."
"Aren't you two a couple? Put in a good word for me. This sun really hurts, you know."
"You don't seem that uncomfortable to me, seeing as you can still talk while being roasted by the sun."
Luke suddenly put on an expression of surprise, pointing at Ferid and saying.
"Unless... you're the legendary M?!"
Ferid sighed.
"You have a terrible personality. Leave me alone for a while. I'm about to fall apart."
Seeing Ferid stop talking and act all aloof, Luke walked over and quietly asked the Vampire on guard duty.
"How long has he been sunbathing?"
"Don't worry, Lord Luke! He's been sunbathing for a solid nineteen hours! But according to your calculation method, it's only fourteen hours."
"And today?"
"He's been at it for over five hours today."
Luke smiled and patted the Vampire on the back.
"Alright, go have fun. I'm going out for a stroll."
The Vampire, thinking of the smile Luke had when he left, felt sympathy for Ferid. All Upper-ranking Vampires knew one thing.
When Lord Demon King smiles happily, it's not because he's found something amusing—it's because you're about to *become* Lord Demon King's amusement!
A little over ten minutes later, a sudden sense of foreboding struck Ferid.
On the surface, two Lower-ranking Vampires drove a large transport truck to the edge of the crater.
"Why do you think Lord Luke told us to park the transport truck here? Isn't Ferid still being punished down there? Won't this block the sunlight?"
"Why ask so many questions? If a Progenitor gives an order, we just follow it."
The Vampire guarding Ferid below glanced at Ferid, frozen in the newly cast shadow, and deepened his understanding of Luke.
If you offend other Progenitors, you'll suffer pain, death, or Demon Transformation. But if you offend Luke, you'll suffer pain, pain, pain... nearly transform, get a little break, pain, pain, pain... Ferid, noticing the sunlight was suddenly blocked, knew exactly whose handiwork this was without even thinking.
"Truly even more twisted than my own personality, Luke."
This couldn't go on. As the flames on his body gradually died down, Ferid turned his head and spoke to the guarding Vampire.
"Hey, go tell the Queen that the Seventh Progenitor requests to convene the Ancestor Council Meeting."
"Huh? Oh! Yes, Lord Ferid."
Because Ferid was convening the Ancestor Council Meeting, the Sunlight Torture was temporarily suspended.
In the meeting room, Krul sat in the only chair and asked.
"Are you sure you want to convene the meeting? A mere Seventh, if you don't have anything important to say, the punishment won't be as simple as just one day of sun exposure."
Ferid, now recovered and back in his own clothes, replied.
"Of course it's important. I'll trouble you then, Your Majesty."
Krul said no more, pressed the communication button, and also sent someone to call Luke over.
Some time later, Luke arrived.
"Oh, looks like I'm not the last one here? Crowley and the others haven't arrived yet?"
Ferid spoke up.
"Crowley returned to his own territory. He's not in Sanguinem right now."
"Oh? Nagoya?"
"Mhm."
Luke pondered for a moment.
"Krul."
Krul propped her head on her hand and looked at him. What was this guy planning now?
"What?"
Luke walked up to Krul, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her back and forth.
"Where's *my* territory? I don't think I've been granted any land! This is a very serious issue!"
Ferid chimed in at this point.
"Luke, with a personality like yours, managing a territory would probably cause a rebellion."
Luke let go of Krul, turned to look at Ferid, put one hand on his hip, sized him up, and then said.
"You're the last person qualified to say that to me!"
Ferid averted his gaze, spread his hands, squinted, and laughed.
"Aha, but I have a territory~"
"Both of you, shut up!"
Krul was getting a headache from these two.
"Luke, in most circumstances, your orders are my orders. You can manage all Vampires in Japan except for the Progenitors and a few specific nobles. Is that answer satisfactory?"
Ferid put his hand on Luke's shoulder and teased.
"My, if I had known dating the Queen would grant such authority, I would have started pursuing her centuries ago. I'm so envious of you, a latecomer."
Luke disdainfully slapped Ferid's hand away.
"Get away from me. I'm taken."
"I just love your interesting personality. We're quite alike, aren't we?"
Luke thought for a moment, then shook his head seriously and said.
"No, no, no. You're unloved."
"Saying such harsh words... are you prepared for my revenge?"
"Bring it on if you dare, you..."
While Luke and Ferid were busy grossing each other out and Krul was speechless, a Progenitor had already responded to the call.
"My, you two are full of energy."
Luke and Ferid looked at each other, then turned their heads and spoke in unison.
"Who are you?"
"Hmph, nothing much. Just a nobody. So, what's the matter this time, Your Majesty?"
Krul answered lazily.
"You're quite impatient, Bastia Irukul. But it wasn't me who called you. It was the Seventh Progenitor. If you have any questions, ask him."
Ferid clenched his right fist and smacked it into his left palm. He remembered who the other party was.
"Oh, it's you. It's been so long I almost forgot your voice. You didn't say a word at the last meeting, but you're willing to speak today?"
"Hmph, a mere Seventh, who gave you the gall to question me, the Sixth? Speak, what is this all about?"
Ferid waved his hand.
"You alone can't solve the problem. I don't want to repeat the same thing many times."
Bastia didn't argue. Everyone began waiting for the other Progenitors.
Luke, meanwhile, kept thinking about who this Sixth Progenitor was. He definitely didn't appear in the anime, and Luke's memory of the later manga content was a bit fuzzy.
Some time later, most Progenitors had arrived. Unlike the previous Upper-ranking Progenitor meeting, this time any Progenitor could attend.
Urd spoke up.
"We'll transmit the content to those not present later. Now it's your time to perform, Ferid. If you waste my time, I wouldn't mind disciplining you on Rig's behalf."
Ferid bowed.
"Of course, Lord Urd. What I have to say is extremely important. It's crucial information I discovered a few days ago while fighting humans in Shinjuku."
Ferid happily spread his arms.
"'The seraph of the end' experiment has yielded significant results in human research!"
