Rim Young smiled upon his discovery. He immediately grabbed the metal hatch, standing up as he slowly lifted the plank. To his surprise, it wasn't attached to any hinges. The entire thing was a removable plank. And a heavy one.
"Ugh..."
Rim Young immediately regretted not bringing help. The wood was thick and waterlogged from years of exposure to the elements. Muscles in his arms strained as he slowly lifted it off the concealed entrance. Dirt and dried leaves slid from the surface, scattering across the ground as the plank rose higher and higher. The dog sat nearby, watching him quietly. Finally, after a considerable struggle, Rim Young managed to raise the plank nearly upright, using both hands and most of his body weight to keep it balanced. Still smiling despite the strain, he shifted his position and prepared to look inside.
