Ronald's POV
The walk away from that street felt longer than it should have. My neck still throbbed where that powerful pheromones had pressed down on me like an invisible hand. I rubbed it gently as I waved down a cab. The driver gave me a quick look but didn't ask questions. I slid into the back seat and gave him my home address in a tired voice.
As the cab moved through the evening streets, I stared out the window. My mind kept replaying what had happened. That guy wasn't a normal alpha. If he had been, his pheromones wouldn't have choked us like that. Alphas can push each other, sure, but this was something else. Something much stronger. He might be an Enigma. The thought sent a small shiver down my spine. Enigmas were rare and incredibly powerful. No wonder Isaac and the others had backed down so fast.
