Lirien's POV
I felt warm.
That was the first thing I noticed when I woke up again. Not the cold hospital sheets or the sharp smell of medicine, but a deep, comforting warmth all around me. Two familiar scents wrapped me, Vael's rich, protective one that always made me feel safe, and Davis's calmer, spicy scent that felt steady and strong. They were both here. Right beside me.
My eyes opened slowly. The room was bright but gentle, with soft light coming through the window. Vael sat on my right, holding my hand tightly like he was afraid I might disappear. Davis was on my left, gently rubbing my arm in slow circles. The moment they saw my eyes open, both their faces changed. Relief and love washed over them at the same time.
"You're awake again," Vael whispered. He leaned forward and kissed my forehead, his lips staying there for a long second. "How do you feel, baby?"
