Martin's POV
The next morning, I stood outside the reinforced steel door of Lirien's room with my arms crossed tightly over my chest, staring at the dull gray surface while silence stretched through the hallway.
The underground compound was quieter than usual at this hour. Most of the men had already rotated shifts after the night patrols.
I barely noticed any of it.
My mind was occupied with one person.
Lirien.
Four days.
Four full days since we'd taken him.
At first, it had only been about revenge. About making the Korren family panic the same way mine once had. Making the Korrens suffer had been the goal from the beginning. The arrogant bastard Aaron had walked through life untouched for too long, protected by his name, his wealth, his power.
Taking his sons Omega had finally wiped that smug confidence off his face.
And I had enjoyed that far more than I should have.
