Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: The Missing Z Move and the Elite Four of Kabukicho

"A Sparkling Stone, and..."

Hoshino looked down, not expecting there to be not just one, but a whole pile of them!

They were all sorts of colors; he wondered which four poor souls had been unlucky enough to be beaten and robbed of them.

Logically speaking, Sparkling Stone is usually a gift from a Guardian Deity to a Trainer it recognizes, and it is a key material for making Z-Rings.

But Hoshino suddenly thought of something: he had been in this world for almost two months, and it seemed he had never heard of any Z-Moves.

He hadn't paid attention to this before, being busy all day, and he wasn't interested in online competitions or gossip news...

So he immediately took out his Rotom Phone and started searching. The result was quickly clear: there were no records related to Z-Moves online!

Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, and even Terastallization existed, but only Z-Moves were missing.

However, there were some clues about Z-Crystals; they could be found on Alola beaches or chipped out of rocks. But these crystals were sold as pretty gems and were not called Z-Crystals.

"Could it be because a bunch of Sparkling Stone were stolen, and then no one knew how to make Z-Rings? Don't the Guardian Deity teach it? Were they beaten silly?"

Hoshino could only think of this answer, but isn't this great? If he could bring out Z-Moves, develop a new system, and then gain both fame and fortune, of course, that was just a good idea...

"So how do you make a Z-Ring?"

Just as Hoshino was thinking about this, he suddenly felt something approaching behind him. He froze, then slowly turned around to see a Bewear holding several cans of Sweet Honey, silently staring at him.

"..."

"I was just curious... looking..."

"..."

Bewear didn't give him a chance to explain. It picked up a can of Sweet Honey and poured it in. Cyclizar couldn't escape either; this was after-meal dessert.

"..."

Hoshino slumped to the ground, feeling like he never wanted to eat anything sweet again. Why force-feed them? Were they afraid they couldn't eat on their own?

After feeding them Sweet Honey, Bewear seemed to finally finish its task. It extended a paw and gently stroked Gengar's head, as if saying goodbye.

"Gengar?"

"Bear~"

Bewear rarely made such a gentle growl. Gengar stared blankly, not quite understanding, but it also let out a cry in response.

Hoshino did another sit-up and got back on his feet. Looking at the Sparkling Stone in his hand, he hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Can I... take this thing?"

"..."

Hearing this, Bewear suddenly turned its head, its aura intimidating. With an unreadable expression, it silently watched him for several seconds, then turned its head back.

Although it said nothing, Hoshino felt this should be a 'yes'... Dealing with this kind of guy was completely unpredictable; his talent didn't work.

As for why he didn't just secretly take it but had to ask? Since the other party was willing to trust him and entrust him with finding its child, he couldn't do anything to betray that trust!

Seeing that it seemed okay to leave, he stood up and said, "Then we'll be going. If we find your child, we'll tell you immediately, so don't give up. And... although it's not dinner time, thank you for the hospitality."

"Cycli..."

"Gengar~"

"Bear!"

"Eh? Don't..."

Seeing Bewear suddenly open its arms, Hoshino had an ominous feeling. The next second, they were once again embraced by the Bewear, directly bundled up, and forcefully thrown into the sky!

"What kind of feeling is this!!!"

...

After a long while, Hoshino, riding Cyclizar, finally returned to Kabukicho. He had been thrown to who knows where and then ran all the way back. Thankfully, he was fine, just almost scared unconscious.

"Cycli..."

Cyclizar collapsed in front of the Izakaya. It was too tired to run anymore. Hoshino could only drag it inside the store to get some food and drinks to recover.

Gengar wasn't very tired. It was already familiar with how to float itself and was having a great time, but it didn't leave Hoshino's side.

Seeing them appear, Braixen immediately came over to help. Slowking stood behind the bar, looking at these guys, and asked, "Where did you run off to cause trouble again? Octillery went to collect the goods but didn't see you. But the reward was left with us."

"No wonder I didn't see the boat when I went there."

Hoshino sat at the bar, ordered some food and drinks, then asked, "So where's my reward?"

"Here it is."

Saying that, Slowking tossed over a red envelope. Hoshino opened it and counted, immediately showing a puzzled expression: "Hmm? Why is half missing?"

"I took it."

"You even charge a commission fee?!"

"You broke my door yesterday."

"A door isn't that expensive!"

"The doors need to match, you know. If one is broken, the other naturally needs to be replaced too."

"..."

Hoshino was speechless again, but none of that mattered. It was more important to ask about the situation first...

"A Bewear whose child is lost?"

After hearing his question, Slowking, unusually, fell into confusion, then continued to ask, "Are you talking about the one living in the Mahalo Trail forest?"

"That's right, it seems you do know it. Tell me about its situation. I saw Tapu Koko get one-punched by it. It's so powerful."

Upon receiving the answer, Slowking was stunned, then its tone suddenly deepened, saying, "How did you get involved with it? Don't get blood on me."

"Huh? What's wrong?"

"That's the Bear God, the most terrifying creature in the Alola Region. As for the Tapu Koko you mentioned, it probably spent the night carousing in Kabukicho last night, got drunk and went to provoke it, and then got beaten. That kind of thing happens quite often."

"???"

Watching it casually say the latter half of the sentence, Hoshino was instantly bewildered. Wasn't Tapu Koko one of the Elite Four protecting this place? Why did it seem to have no face at all? What was going on?

He raised his doubts, but Slowking seemed to have heard a joke, suddenly bursting into laughter and saying, "The Kabukicho Elite Four are not the likes of Guardian Deity. Although the Bear God is not from here, its combat power can be called the fifth of the Elite Four, one of the Five Great Special Combat Forces!"

"Where did this setting come from?! Do they even have Bankai?!"

"It's always been there. As for whether they have Bankai, I don't know. The only thing I know is that as early as the beginning of the Alola Region, they were already the strongest combatants, the generation of miracles, the golden..."

"Wait! Wait! Stop!"

Hoshino quickly stopped it from continuing, his mind filled with question marks, because all his previous guesses were completely wrong!

He had originally thought these Elite Four were Guardian Deity, but hearing Slowking, the Elite Four seemed to be guys with combat power like Bewear! Guardian Deity here were just guests of Kabukicho!

"Hey, something's not right..."

Hoshino couldn't understand. A single Bewear could one-punch a second-tier deity, and there were four more creatures with such combat power on this street? Could it be that they were hiding four Mewtwo? But where would so many Mewtwo come from?

"Boss Slowking, that Elite Four..."

Before he could finish, Slowking suddenly slammed the bar, interrupting him, then said with a serious expression, "Don't ask what you shouldn't ask. Those are not guys you can afford to provoke. I told you Kabukicho hides many terrifying things!"

"Many terrifying things...?"

Hoshino silently muttered this sentence, feeling as if the surroundings had instantly quieted down. All sounds were gone. He realized that he still knew too little about this street.

On the bar, the mascot Slowpoke continued to stare at the sky, wagging its tail, wondering what it was thinking.

"Slow~"

...

After Cyclizar had mostly recovered its stamina, Hoshino took it and Gengar back upstairs. The amount of information he received today was too much; his brain couldn't process it all.

Boss Slowking told him not to get further involved in Bewear's matter, seemingly because the Bear God was completely unreasonable, simply high in combat power, and would do anything. It was very dangerous.

Moreover, the other party's child seemed to have been lost for several years and still hadn't been found, with no clues. In this situation, there was basically no hope.

But Hoshino was not the kind of person who would give up. Since he had gained Bewear's trust and accepted the commission, he would naturally help to the end, although he was also clueless right now...

"This is only the first day the Yorozuya is open, but at least we already have business!"

Hoshino instantly cheered up. The moment he opened the door, he seriously shouted, "Keep up the good work and strive to make our name resound throughout Kabukicho!"

"Cycli!"

"Gengar!"
