Daphne's POV
I gave a slow nod. "Perfection isn't something I can guarantee," I admitted, letting my fingertips trace the edge of the pamphlet pages. "But I've absorbed every word in here. I understand the expectations placed on me, on everyone within these walls, and why Azure of the Valley operates under such rigid structure. The hierarchy is crystal clear, and every person has their designated place."
My hand moved deliberately as I reached for his, the gesture calculated yet appearing natural. I cradled his fingers between both of mine, meeting his gaze with an expression that could be interpreted as appreciation, faith, or the first stirrings of submission.
"I have complete confidence," I said, "that when I inevitably stumble in the days ahead, you'll guide me back to the correct path using whatever methods you deem appropriate."
