Chapter 195 - Progression Is Won with Gold

Reserves still earned the attendance point as long as they stayed on standby in Ventrilo.

If they couldn't even manage that, they didn't get the DKP.

"Everyone's been credited," Victor said.

His Priest, Isenor, was now Fearless's DKP officer.

Gabryell had power-leveled the character to 60 in just three days. After that, Victor went straight to the Auction House, pieced together whatever gear he could afford, completed Of Love and Family, and ran the major level-60 dungeons a few times.

It was barely progression-ready.

But it would do.

"From now on, whisper Isenor with 'DKP' to check your total."

The moment he finished speaking, Isenor was flooded with whispers.

DKP

Every player received the same automatic response.

You currently have 1 DKP.

"Haha, this DKP thing is actually pretty cool."

"Feels like a job. Show up, get paid."

"Not really. DKP only works in guild raids. You can't take it somewhere else like gold."

"As long as it gets me gear, I'm happy. I'm not going anywhere anyway."

"Same. You guys are stuck with me."

DKP also gave people a reason to stay.

Walking away meant abandoning every point they had saved.

GDKP was different.

Gold went wherever you went.

If you didn't like one run, you could take your money somewhere else.

"Handle buffs according to your class lead's assignments."

Gabryell had left buff assignments to the class leads.

They split the work evenly and gave themselves their share too.

"Flasks and elixirs handed out?"

"Everyone's got theirs."

Several class leads answered almost at once.

They weren't distributing only flasks and elixirs.

There were Major Mana Potions and Major Healing Potions too.

The healers got special treatment: five stacks of Major Mana Potions each for the night.

Gabryell wasn't forcing them to buy extras out of their own pockets.

Any serious healer already carried plenty anyway.

Danielly and Lunatori, for example, always kept several stacks on hand. For progression, they had even stocked up on Dark Runes from the Auction House.

The guild was paying for all of these consumables.

Until raid income started coming in, that effectively meant the money was coming straight out of Gabryell's pocket.

After spending this much to supply forty people, he had no problem sending ordinary green gear and crafting materials to the guild fund.

"Tanks, pop Flask of the Titans."

Molten Core trash hit hard enough that the tanks could drop fast without the extra health.

All four had received two flasks for the night.

At two hours each, that was enough to cover the entire session.

Carlos, Susie, David, and Nightlord drank theirs.

Gabryell had made plenty, so supplying the backup tanks too wasn't a problem.

Carlos checked his health bar.

"Twelve hundred extra health for two hours? That's insane."

Susie laughed.

"Damn, these things are good."

David looked at his stats.

"Feels like I just upgraded half my gear."

Nightlord immediately added:

"A real man lasts two hours."

When gear wasn't enough, consumables could close part of the gap.

As far as Gabryell knew, no other guild on Tichondrius was spending this aggressively on progression yet.

Some barely supplied their healers with Major Mana Potions.

Full flasks and elixirs across most of the raid were another matter entirely.

ServerHeals looked at the four tanks' health bars.

"If we'd flasked a few days ago, maybe we could've killed those two entrance mobs."

Flasks and elixirs were still relatively cheap.

Once the other guilds saw how much of a difference they made for Fearless, they would rush the Auction House.

Prices would follow.

"Carlos, Susie, put Greater Stoneshield on your bars."

"Keep the armor buff up on trash."

Greater Stoneshield Potion added 2,000 armor for two minutes.

Gabryell had gone all-in on consumables for this raid.

Carlos got one hundred.

Susie got another hundred.

There were still plenty more sitting in one of his alt banks.

He had paid players to farm Stonescale Eels specifically for the potions and bought out every reasonably priced eel that appeared on the Auction House.

"Got it."

Only the main tank and off-tank would maintain Greater Stoneshield constantly.

Supplies weren't unlimited, so David and Nightlord would stick to Flask of the Titans unless they had to step in.

Next came the twelve healers.

"Healers, pop Distilled Wisdom."

"Use Major Mana Potions when you need them, but don't burn one if the pack's almost dead or healing is stable."

Flask of Distilled Wisdom increased maximum mana by 2,000 for two hours.

Their gear was still weak, and mana was one of the raid's biggest limitations.

Two flasks each would cover the entire night.

"Mages, pop Supreme Power."

Every Mage had received two Flasks of Supreme Power as well.

The extra 150 spell damage was roughly five Briarwood Reeds' worth of spell power per Mage.

That was a massive jump at their current gear level.

The Warlocks didn't receive Supreme Power.

Instead, Gabryell had given them several Limited Invulnerability Potions.

He wasn't spending flask money just to pad their meters.

For this progression setup, he cared more about having Banish available whenever the raid needed it.

The Mage group, on the other hand, was about to hit much harder.

Physical DPS didn't have an equivalent flask, so they received class-appropriate consumables instead.

Elixir of the Mongoose.

Winterfall Firewater.

Elixir of Giants.

Or cheaper Agility elixirs when appropriate.

Those buffs disappeared on death.

Trying to keep everyone fully consumed through wipe after wipe would burn through supplies at a ridiculous rate.

Gabryell handed out what he had.

Everyone got a few options.

Once they were gone, they were gone.

"Physical DPS, save your consumables."

"Only use them when I call for them."

Even deep pockets eventually ran dry.

And tonight was going to be a wipefest.

Burning full consumables on every pull would just torch what little gold he had left.

To save a little more, he hadn't supplied Greater Arcane Elixirs to the casters either.

Anyone who wanted to squeeze out extra DPS could buy their own.

Once everyone flasked up, the raid's stats jumped across the board.

Buffs were done.

Consumables were ready.

Now they could finally pull.

Gabryell looked at the pair ahead of them.

A level-62 Molten Giant.

A level-63 Molten Destroyer.

Behind them wasn't one of the three- or four-fire-elemental packs future GDKP raiders would dream about.

Instead, they had drawn a mixed pack.

Two fire elementals.

Two earth elementals.

"Carlos, take the Destroyer."

"Susie, take the Giant."

After other guilds had spent days throwing themselves at Molten Core, enough basic information had spread that Gabryell didn't need to explain every little detail anymore.

"David, Nightlord, stay with the raid."

"If anything breaks loose, pick it up immediately."

"If Carlos or Susie drops, take over."

With the flasks active, the two primary tanks should be able to hold their targets.

David and Nightlord were insurance.

"Separate them as soon as the pull starts."

"Don't let both tanks eat the Destroyer's AoE."

"Burn the Destroyer first, then the Giant."

After spending this much gold, Gabryell wanted both mobs dead on the first pull.

"Carlos, Susie, go together."

"Stoneshield the second you have them."

Both enemies dealt primarily physical damage.

Another 2,000 armor would make a huge difference.

Carlos and Susie moved into position.

"Going in."

"Healers, keep us up."

Both Warriors Charged at the same time, each crashing into their assigned target.
