CHAPTER 69: FOR MY FUTURE WIFE
The envelope is addressed in handwriting I do not recognise.
I turn it over once, then again, my thumb running across the slightly raised surface of the ink the way you touch something you are not sure is real. The paper is old but not ancient, the kind of yellowing that comes from years rather than decades, and the seal on the back has been broken and reseated so carefully that you would miss it entirely if you weren't looking.
Someone read this before us.
"Open it," Ariana says quietly.
I slide my finger under the flap.
Inside is a single folded document, several pages thick, the sheets held together at the corner with a small rusted clip. I unfold it carefully, smoothing the creases against my palm, and look at the top of the first page.
The heading got my attention with the four words written.

The room goes very quiet.
