CHAPTER 50: I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU
"Who are you, and why do you have my face?" I demanded.
My voice rang through the cold air of the alley.
My hands were shaking badly. I shoved them into my jacket pockets to hide it.
The woman standing across from me did not even flinch.
She leaned against the wet brick wall and stared at me with my eyes.
"You think you are the one who gets to ask questions here?" she said.
Her voice was low and mocking.
"I have been watching your company moves for three weeks. I was waiting for the high and mighty Aria Morriston to finally notice her shadow."
I laughed.
"My shadow?" I repeated. "You are standing in front of me looking exactly like me, and you are talking about shadows?"
Ariana shrugged.
"It is funny, is it not?" she said.
"I am not playing games with you," I said.
I took a step closer to her. Our boots were almost touching in the mud.
My heart was beating fast.
"Tell me your name before I lose my patience completely."
