Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Fragile Peace

The scan had passed cleanly.

For the first time in weeks, the penthouse felt lighter. Guàn Jǐngchén moved through the space with a visible ease Lin Yuè had rarely seen — shoulders relaxed, sharp eyes softer, the constant edge of the hunter momentarily dulled. He cancelled all remaining afternoon meetings and declared the rest of the week "ours."

That evening, they celebrated quietly.

Guàn Jǐngchén cooked Lin Yuè's favorite dishes — simple stir-fried vegetables, steamed fish, and fragrant rice — while Lin Yuè helped from the side, stealing kisses whenever the CEO turned around. The kitchen filled with warmth and laughter, the kind of domestic peace that felt almost stolen.

After dinner, they moved to the living room. Guàn Jǐngchén pulled Lin Yuè onto the wide couch, arranging him so the younger man straddled his lap. Strong hands settled on Lin Yuè's hips, thumbs stroking slow circles over the soft fabric of his sweater.

"You've been quiet since the scan results," Guàn Jǐngchén observed, voice low and gentle. He leaned in and kissed Lin Yuè slowly, deeply, tongue sliding against his in a lazy rhythm. "Tell me what's on your mind."

Lin Yuè hesitated, then rested his forehead against the CEO's. "I was scared. That something would come between us. That you'd find a reason to… doubt me."

Guàn Jǐngchén's grip tightened possessively. "Never. The scan was clean. You're clean. You're mine." He kissed him again, harder this time, hands sliding under the sweater to caress bare skin. "I want to show you how much I trust you."

The kiss quickly turned heated. Guàn Jǐngchén pushed the sweater up and off, exposing Lin Yuè's chest. His mouth trailed hot kisses down the column of his neck, sucking faint marks into the pale skin. He lavished attention on Lin Yuè's nipples — sucking one while pinching the other — until Lin Yuè was trembling and whimpering softly.

"So sensitive," Guàn Jǐngchén murmured. He shifted them so Lin Yuè was lying back on the couch, then stripped the rest of his clothes away with deliberate care. Guàn Jǐngchén's eyes darkened as he took in the sight of Lin Yuè completely bare beneath him.

He kissed his way down Lin Yuè's body, taking his time. When he reached the hardening length between his thighs, he took him into his mouth — slow, wet, and thorough. His tongue swirled around the head before sliding down the shaft. One hand stroked what his mouth couldn't reach while the other teased Lin Yuè's entrance with slick fingers, pushing in gently and scissoring.

Lin Yuè moaned brokenly, fingers gripping the CEO's hair. Pleasure built in waves until he was shaking.

Guàn Jǐngchén pulled off and quickly prepared himself. He pushed inside with one smooth, deep thrust, both of them groaning at the tight heat. He set a slow, intense rhythm — deep rolls of his hips that dragged against that sensitive spot with every stroke.

Their eyes stayed locked. Guàn Jǐngchén's hand wrapped around Lin Yuè, stroking him in perfect time.

"I love you," the CEO whispered, voice raw with emotion. "No scan, no whisper, no ghost will ever change that."

Lin Yuè came first with a soft cry, spilling between them. Guàn Jǐngchén followed moments later, burying himself deep with a low groan as he filled him.

They stayed connected for a long time afterward, foreheads pressed together. Guàn Jǐngchén kissed away the tears that had slipped from Lin Yuè's eyes, murmuring soft praises and promises.

The next two days passed in a bubble of fragile peace.

They barely left the penthouse. Mornings were spent in bed, bodies moving together with slow, emotional intensity. Afternoons involved lazy cuddles on the couch, shared meals, and quiet conversations where Guàn Jǐngchén spoke about his childhood, his fears, and how Lin Yuè had become the first person to make him want to stop fighting.

On the third night, as they lay tangled in bed after another round of lovemaking, Guàn Jǐngchén held Lin Yuè close and whispered, "I've been thinking about the future. Marriage. A real life together. No more hiding anything."

Lin Yuè's heart clenched so hard it hurt. He pressed his face into the CEO's neck, hiding the fresh tears.

"I want that too," he whispered back, voice thick.

But in the silence that followed, the weight of his lies pressed down heavier than ever.

The scan had passed.

The whispers had quieted for now.

The peace felt real.

Yet Lin Yuè knew it was only the calm before the storm.

Somewhere in the company systems, the ghost of Eclipse still lingered in the code.

And the next time the hunter looked too closely, the truth would no longer stay hidden.

For now, Lin Yuè chose to hold onto this fragile happiness — every kiss, every "I love you," every tender touch — knowing it might be all he had left when the mask finally shattered.
