Chapter 4 - THE GIRL WHO REFUSED HIM

Prologue: "He controlled everything—until the one person he couldn't control walked into his life."

The four men reached Oshmir Hills and searched for the lone house mentioned in the address, moving through the silent hills until they finally found it—exactly as described. They knocked on the door and called out, but there was no answer. Not a sound. Not a movement.

After waiting, they left and headed to a nearby market, asking the locals about the house. The people exchanged glances before replying that an old man and a very beautiful young woman lived there, but no one knew anything about them. The girl never spoke, no one had even heard her voice, and the old man was the only one who came out to buy food and necessities.

The men gathered the information and returned to the house, waiting there as hours passed and darkness slowly took over the hills. Then, an old man finally appeared. They approached him immediately and questioned him about the house and the girl. The old man looked at them cautiously and asked who they were. After hearing everything, he replied that it was the girl who had submitted the resume, but she was unwell. He assured them that she would recover by morning and personally promised that she would meet their CEO.

Satisfied, the men left and informed Sam that they had found the person behind the perfect resume. Sam got excited and tried calling the manager multiple times, but there was no response.

After they left, the old man looked around carefully before opening the door. A letter lay slipped under it. He picked it up, read it, and walked toward a room, knocking gently. "Lara… Lara." The door opened, and a young woman stood there. He handed her the letter and explained everything. She took it softly and responded with a quiet "hmm." The room behind her was dim, almost drowned in darkness, with the window slightly open, curtains moving gently as faint moonlight slipped inside.

Morning arrived. The manager checked his phone and immediately called Sam back. Sam answered with excitement, saying the person would be coming today. The manager quickly informed Zaden.

Zaden arrived at the office, his presence instantly shifting the atmosphere. At the lobby, his eyes briefly caught a woman in a red suit sitting calmly, but he ignored her and walked past.

Soon, the manager entered his cabin. "Sir, the person with the resume is here."

Zaden's interest sharpened. "Send him in."

The manager stepped out and looked at Lara. "Go inside," he said, then added in a low voice, "Watch your manners. Our boss has extreme anger issues… and he dislikes women."

Lara simply nodded and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

She stepped inside.

Zaden's irritation appeared instantly. "Who are you?" he snapped. "I'm waiting for someone. Whatever your reason is, come back later."

Lara remained calm. "Sir, I'm Lara—from Oshmir Hills. I received your letter yesterday. I'm grateful for your interest, but I'm here to apologize. I won't be able to work here. Thank you, sir."

She turned and walked toward the door.

"Wait."

She stopped.

Zaden's eyes narrowed. "Are you the one who submitted that resume? No name. No image?"

"Yes, sir."

For a moment, he was stunned. The brilliance of that resume… and it was her?

"How do I believe that?" he asked coldly. "Why no name? No picture?"

Lara explained calmly that she came from a poor background, lived alone, and had no access to proper technology in Oshmir Hills. She admitted she felt embarrassed submitting a resume without a photo, so she didn't include her name either, believing she would never be selected anyway. She added that she was planning to leave the hills and start a new life, and she was surprised he had searched for her.

Zaden studied her closely and ordered her to sit. He questioned her repeatedly, testing her knowledge. Every answer she gave was precise, confident, and brilliant.

Outside, whispers spread quickly. People murmured about her beauty, assuming she must be someone special to Zaden. Sam rushed to the manager and asked if she was Jeylin. The manager shook his head and said her name was Lara—the one behind the perfect resume. Sam stood there, shocked.

Inside the cabin, Zaden leaned back slightly. "Impressive," he said. "Join the company. Start immediately."

Lara hesitated. "Sir, I already told you. I'm planning to leave. I came here to show respect for your effort… and to politely decline."

Silence.

Zaden's expression darkened.

"Are you here to reject me?" he asked in a dangerously low voice.

Lara said nothing.

A cold smile formed on his lips. "Who do you think you are?" he said softly. "No one refuses me. You don't get to choose when it comes to me. Join immediately and stop wasting my time."

Lara didn't argue.

She simply walked out of cabin.

The manager approached her quickly and asked what happened. After hearing her response, he advised her not to reject the offer, warning her calmly. Then he left.

Sam entered the manager's cabin moments later, still disturbed and asked manager "You said seven girls died because of him… did he ever feel anything? Regret? Guilt?"

The manager looked at him and replied coldly, "He didn't care." and asked why are we still talking about this?

Sam stood frozen.

Just then, a call came from reception. "Sir… Miss Lara has left."

The manager's face changed instantly. He rushed to Zaden's cabin and informed him.

Zaden's anger exploded. He threw everything off his desk and stormed out, heading straight for his car.

He was going after her.

The entire office watched in shock, whispers spreading in fear and confusion.

Sam turned to the manager nervously. "What's going to happen now?"

The manager exhaled slowly.

"Only God knows."
