"Do you still remember your name?"
"Name…" The adorable child sucked on their finger, then shook their head. "I don't know."
"Then do you remember where your home is?"
"Home…" The child's crimson eyes flickered. "I don't know."
The young doctor sighed, then turned around helplessly and said: "Sister Zhirou, this child really has amnesia."
Hearing this, Jun Mo Li asked worriedly: "Is it because she fell from the waterfall?"
"Mm… My knowledge is limited, but I don't think it's related to what little Mo Li described."
"Because I didn't find any trauma on her body that would come from severe impact—in fact, her body is extremely healthy."
The young woman holding Jun Mo Li's hand said in surprise: "Very healthy? Healthy enough to still have amnesia?"
"The two aren't directly related, but I also can't figure out the cause of her amnesia." The young doctor said helplessly. "How about this, Sister Zhirou—write a letter and ask Teacher, who's traveling outside, to come take a look?"
"Alright, I'll write to Father when I get back." Bai Zhirou nodded. "Then I'll take Ah Bai home for now."
"Okay."
With the doctor's permission, Bai Zhirou walked to the bedside and extended her hand to Ah Bai.
Ah Bai obediently took Bai Zhirou's hand and followed behind her.
After "she" woke up, "she" had forgotten her identity, her home, and her name.
Li Tonghui saw "her" head of white hair and suggested calling "her" Ah Bai. The suggestion received Ah Bai's own agreement, so Ah Bai became "her" current name.
Because Ah Bai had amnesia and appeared very young, Li Tonghui and Jun Mo Li were worried about "her".
The two each asked their own parents for help, and the final result was that Ah Bai would temporarily stay at Jun Mo Li's house.
Today, Jun Mo Li had begged his mother Bai Zhirou to come to the clinic, hoping the doctor could cure Ah Bai's amnesia.
But who knew that the grandfather who usually stayed at the clinic had suddenly gone traveling, leaving only an apprentice who hadn't graduated yet.
So the three could only return disappointed.
No—more precisely, two returned disappointed. Ah Bai was completely unaffected.
Today's Ah Bai was wearing a red-and-white knee-length ruqun, with nearly floor-length white hair tied into twin tails.
A happy expression paired with that soft, cute appearance—an optimistic and cheerful twin-tailed little cutie on the scene!
Passersby who saw felt their hearts flutter, wanting to scoop Ah Bai up and dote on her fiercely.
"Not curing the amnesia—Ah Bai, don't you feel disappointed?"
Looking at Ah Bai's happy expression, Jun Mo Li asked in confusion.
"A little disappointed, but even if I'm unhappy, the situation won't improve—so it's better to just keep smiling." Ah Bai shrugged.
At least when others saw his smile, they wouldn't worry too much about him.
"Ah Bai is so sensible." Bai Zhirou smiled and patted Ah Bai's little head.
The texture was really nice~
The three—one adult and two children—walked together back to the Jun household.
Jun Mo Li's father had passed away unexpectedly when Jun Mo Li was five. Since then, mother and son had depended on each other…
That would be the normal plot, but unfortunately, Jun Mo Li's father had left behind a substantial inheritance—enough to ensure mother and son lived comfortably without worry.
Otherwise, Jun Mo Li would probably have been working in the fields instead of practicing swordplay by the waterfall.
Martial arts training was something only families with money could afford. Otherwise, it was just torturing body and mind while slowly killing yourself.
It was precisely because the family was well-off that Bai Zhirou agreed to let Jun Mo Li bring Ah Bai home and even prepared nice clothes for Ah Bai.
Such a cute little one needed to be dressed up properly!
Ah Bai had amnesia, and now Jun Mo Li's physician grandfather was traveling outside, so naturally the Jun mother and son let Ah Bai stay in their home.
Ah Bai lived with the Jun family like this for a while.
Then, one day, "she" was officially adopted by Bai Zhirou and renamed Jun Bai.
When Jun Mo Li returned from practicing swordplay outside and learned the news, he and his mother stared at each other wide-eyed in the room.
Bai Zhirou's explanation was:
"Mo Li, you know your mother—I've always wanted a daughter…"
"But Ah Bai is a boy." Jun Mo Li delivered the soul-piercing question. When he jumped in to save the person, front pressed to back—he could still tell boy from girl after pulling them out.
At first, when he saw Bai Zhirou preparing a ruqun for Ah Bai, Jun Mo Li thought his mother was just being polite, so he didn't say it directly—he just hinted subtly.
Later, seeing Bai Zhirou act like she hadn't noticed, he planned to explain the situation to her one day.
But before he could say anything, Ah Bai had already been renamed Jun Bai and become his nominal… little sister?
At least Bai Zhirou had adopted her as a daughter.
Bai Zhirou fell silent, watching little Jun Bai in the red horse coat chasing butterflies outside, and said with melancholy:
"I know. From the moment you reminded me, I already realized—I just didn't want to accept reality."
"Mom, your obsession with having a daughter is a bit too deep."
"Whether daughter or not doesn't matter—the main thing is that little Jun Bai is really cute~ And Mom just lacks a daughter."
"…" Jun Mo Li was speechless.
Ah Bai officially joined the Jun family and became Jun Bai.
Though for now, still little Jun Bai.
