Soren sat on the couch, watching Carrie carefully sweep up the broken glass, and shook his head slightly.

The instant she had used her power, he had felt the overwhelming surge of mental energy—like a steamroller—crashing straight into that cup.

It really was a problem of not being able to control her strength. But it had nothing to do with scattered focus.

On the contrary, it was because the telekinetic power inside her was simply too strong.

It was like handing a heavy sword that weighed dozens of pounds to a kid who had only just learned to walk. Once he managed to swing it, the momentum and weight made it impossible for him to stop or hold it steady.

Ever since Soren had Carrie and Patty start learning magic and developing their abilities, the mental power she had suppressed for over a decade had been growing far faster than he expected.

And because that power had grown so quickly, she couldn't adapt to it at her current stage.

The result was that this massive reserve of telekinesis was now working against her, making delicate control nearly impossible.

Carrie was still crouched on the floor, carefully gathering the shards. Afraid Soren would blame her, she moved quickly, murmuring "Almost done" and "I'm sorry" under her breath.

Soren sighed quietly in his heart.

This girl's self-confidence was far too low. Years of bullying at school and whatever had happened in her original family had wired her to assume the worst. Even when showing her natural talent, she immediately thought "I don't deserve this" or "I'm doing it wrong" and took all the blame onto herself.

"Stop for a second."

Soren spoke up, cutting off her frantic cleaning. He met her anxious eyes with a calm voice. "Don't take the book's rigid theories too seriously. Your talent is actually very good."

"You can't control it because the telekinetic power inside you is simply too huge."

"This is a special situation. You're going to need a lot of time to get used to it and practice."

He thought for a moment, then offered practical advice tailored to her current state. "Try controlling bigger objects first—abandoned cars outside, or heavy lead balls. Once your body fully adapts, you can gradually move down to smaller things."

Hearing the encouragement and the clear, workable suggestion, Carrie paused. She looked up, tears of gratitude shimmering in her eyes, and nodded hard. "Okay! I understand. I'll practice hard!"

Then she went right back to cleaning up the glass.

Soren watched her busy herself again and shook his head with a small smile.

Carrie was already doing much better than when she first arrived at the office. Back then her telekinesis had been completely ruled by emotion—only exploding out when she was pushed to the absolute limit of rage.

At least now she could use it on command. That was already a huge improvement.

After dumping the trash and washing her hands, Carrie came back.

She suddenly seemed to remember something. "Soren, it's almost the end of April—"

A trace of disappointment crossed her face, but she quickly perked up again. "Patty said a few days ago that she wants to take you to the school's Spring Carnival."

Soren's right eyelid twitched.

American universities usually held their annual Spring Carnival sometime between mid-April and early May to celebrate the season and welcome the coming summer. The main goal was to give students a break from academic pressure.

Once the carnival was over, they would immediately dive into final exams for the spring semester. And right after exams, around mid-May, they would get several months of summer vacation.

In other words, Patty would be on summer break in just a few days.

The thought of her having nothing to do all day and hanging around the office chattering nonstop already gave him a headache.

Night had fallen.

After dinner, Carrie carried the hyperactive little demon Gizmo upstairs.

Soren sat alone on the couch. With a thought, he pulled the Moon Pearl Bayonetta had given him out of Silent Hill.

In daylight it had looked like an ordinary red crystal. But now, in the darkness, it resembled a tiny imprisoned sun, radiating a hazy red glow.

Soren held the pearl up to his eyes and frowned slightly.

How the hell was he supposed to use this thing?

Bayonetta hadn't given him any instructions before she left—only a few teasing remarks.

He searched his memories from his previous life.

If he remembered correctly, in the game this thing was just… eaten directly?

Soren squeezed the pearl between his fingers. It felt hard and cold, nothing like soft jelly or a capsule.

Was he really supposed to just swallow it whole?

What if the method was wrong and it just sat undigested in his stomach? That would be a real problem.

"—Screw it. Down the hatch. Worst case I'll just cut myself open later."

He stopped overthinking, opened his mouth, and tossed the Moon Pearl inside.

Exactly as he had feared.

The moment it entered his mouth, instead of melting, it became even smoother. A faint red light began shining through his skin.

"Gulp."

Soren's Adam's apple bobbed as he forced the hard object down his throat.

It felt like swallowing a piece of hard candy.

"Ugh—"

A low groan escaped him.

Once the pearl dropped into his stomach, it didn't get digested like normal food. Instead, it detonated like a firework.

Countless glowing particles spread through his bloodstream like fireflies, racing to every corner of his body. An extremely pure wave of demonic power instantly flooded him.

His eyes, ears, nostrils, and even his slightly open mouth began emitting uncontrolled beams of brilliant purple light.

From the outside, Soren sitting on the couch looked like a human-shaped lightbulb.

The glow pouring off him lit up the entire first floor and even shone through the office windows into the street outside.

"This thing… packs a punch—"

Soren squeezed his eyes shut, gripping his knees as the massive power rampaged through his body.

Fortunately, the painful process didn't last long.

After a few minutes, the swelling sensation that had felt like his body was about to burst gradually faded.

The light radiating from him slowly dimmed and sank back beneath his skin.

"Hah—"

Soren let out a long breath and leaned back against the couch, exhausted. He slowly opened his eyes; a flash of purple disappeared in an instant.

He checked his internal state and couldn't suppress a grin of pure delight.

His cells felt like someone who had been starving for over ten days and had just been given a full Manchu Han Imperial Feast. A deep, satisfying warmth spread through his entire body.

During his previous breakthrough, his limited demonic power had only been able to saturate some of his cells. Many had still been left hungry, holding almost no power at all.

Now, thanks to the Moon Pearl's energy, every single cell in his body was completely filled with demonic power.

This meant that from now on, whenever he activated Demonization, he would never have to worry about running out of power again.

Soren raised his hand. Purple light gathered in his palm.

A long purple sword formed entirely from condensed demonic power appeared.

With this much power supporting him, he no longer had to carefully calculate structure and stability like he used to during practice.

Raw power was enough.

He looked at the glowing purple sword in his hand and relaxed his fingers.

Instead of falling under gravity, the sword hovered steadily beside him, guided by his will.

Then Soren lifted his hand again. An identical second sword formed and slowly floated up beside the first.

"This should be… Phantom Swords."

With his current demonic power and mental strength, he could probably create even more.

As long as he practiced splitting his focus, these swords could attack enemies from multiple angles in a real fight, creating openings for him.
