Chapter 3 - The slave to be

In Ogrest many have their ways of survival. The heavenly blessed? No no no, it is the ordinary who just find these ways to live and survive.

In a place that just might crueler than its past. And one of these ways was through jobs. For those who were raised by fortunate and responsible parents, they could rest assured that their lives and futures were more secure than money in a bank vault.

They had stable homes, food sources, learning centers and so much more that would be more than necessary to survive this unforgiving real world that was the eververse or Ogrest in specific.

But for those born more unfortunate or under more unfortunate parents, they had to bear with consequence of their 'starting point' and had to grow up in an either harsh but stable home or live miserably for as long as they could.

With some even being born under slavery and or maid life.

Imon Chester was one of these people, who was not born into misery but the misery of a miserable home. Which to say was not as bad as it sounded.

Imon a boy aged fourteen, height mediocre, skin black as they called it and demonic as some referred from time to time, a bastard and a boy who is a slave to be in this household. He works two jobs; a servant house boy and miner in Mineral-hole1i07.

He makes a living of ten 100 renits per month.

[Renits are the verse wide used currency of man today in the eververse.]

While earning 10 remits from his servant boy work weekly, his work in the Mineral-hole gets him up to 19.5 renits a weak as well. Which maybe said that he may be able to earn more than a hundred per month.

In this household, lived regulars just like him. A man, a woman and a girl whose three years older. Together in the Melly district, they are known as the highly prestigious Dromida family. They are regulars yes, but amongst the regulars in the many domes across the eververse, there are those who are highly trusted under the service of the heavenly blessed.

Specifically longtime and destined servants of these people. They are known as Valuables. And as such they operate under these heavenly blessed while serving as faithful and reliable branches of connectivity and function.

The Dromida family in this case serves under the Umelia Royal House, a highly blessed family that is in charge of fuel trade and extraction operations from the different Mineral-holes with this fuel available. As a Valuable, they are in charge of ensuring that their fuel products are distributed to their respective or at least interested markets.

And so, if this is the case why can't Imon just work under their line of operation as well. Surely after having have served under them for 10 years, he could surely be of trust, right?

No, unfortunately his secondary source of work spoke the answer for itself really. And there was nothing the boy could do about it for he had to find a way to build his bank savings up and have another reason to believe he wasn't... fated as one may presume.
