Realizing he had stumbled straight into the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, Peter couldn't help but rub his hands together in eager anticipation.
If he remembered correctly, the core artifact driving this entire plotline was the Orb.
And inside that sphere rested nothing less than the Power Stone!
True to its name, it was easily the most sheer combat-amplifying gem among all six Infinity Stones. Sacrificing a bad boy like that to the system would likely net him hundreds of thousands of Sacrifice Points in a single go!
Beyond the Stone itself, Peter was genuinely interested in making friends with the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
First off, none of these guys were bad people. Establishing a tight connection with them meant they could serve as Earth's distant eyes and ears across the deep cosmos.
Second, Peter personally had a huge eye on Star-Lord and Groot.
Star-Lord, Peter Quill.
To most people in the universe right now, that name belonged to a nobody thief with a laughable moniker. But Peter knew his true origin—the kid's bloodline was anything but simple.
He was the biological son of Ego the Living Planet, and Ego doted on him like a priceless prize. Ever since discovering Quill could withstand the overwhelming surge of an Infinity Stone, Ego was practically burning to have him inherit his Celestial legacy.
In short, as long as he used Star-Lord as bait, he wouldn't have to worry about the big fish named Ego refusing the hook! And once Ego took the bait, it would be time for the old guy to generously deliver both his powers and his entire planet straight into Peter's lap!
Then there was Groot.
This goofy, simple-minded Flora colossus who could only repeat "I am Groot" was equally extraordinary. He was the last remnant of the Flora Colossus species—a supreme ancient race possessing near-infinite regenerative capabilities and total plant manipulation!
If he copied Groot's genetic template with the watch... he could become Marvel's very own mini-Hashirama on the spot.
No, calling it "mini-Hashirama" was far too modest. With his current physical strength paired with the top-tier, optimized Flora Colossus physique refined by the watch, he would easily be Senju Hashirama Pro Max! At that point, he'd be a walking, breathing Wood Human Technique in the flesh!
At this thought, a warm, radiant smile instantly broke across Peter's face.
He clapped a hand warmly onto Rhomann Dey's shoulder, acting like they were old buddies: "Old Dey! Seeing as this whole incident was just a harmless little mix-up, I'm more than willing to take a trip with you to Xandar. Plus, I'll help you guys clear out those minor troublemakers as an apology!"
Hearing Peter's address instantly upgrade from "Big Belly-guy" to "Old Dey," Rhomann Dey couldn't help but feel a bit dazed.
Dazed as he was, seeing a top-tier powerhouse like Peter actively showing his friendly side meant Rhomann Dey had zero reason to refuse. No matter how you sliced it, having Peter maintain a warm friendship with Xandar was a golden opportunity for both himself and the entire planet.
"Wonderful! Mr. Parker, please allow me, on behalf of the Nova Corps, to extend our highest respect for your generosity and warmth!" Rhomann Dey offered a crisp, enthusiastic military salute.
"Please return to The Destiny with your companion. I will personally pilot the lead escort to guide your starship to Xandar!"
After making two hyperspace jumps, Peter finally arrived at Xandar.
The planet before his eyes presented itself as a quintessential high-tech cosmic metropolis. Unlike Asgard's shining golden majesty, Xandar overflowed with sleek, futuristic sci-fi aesthetics.
"This is Xandar," Rhomann Dey's transmission feed popped up on The Destiny's main bridge display, his voice rich with pride. "The beacon of cosmic peace and the headquarters of the Nova Corps. Welcome, warrior of Earth."
By the time they reached Xandar, Rhomann Dey had clearly used his comms to brief the Nova Corps leadership on Peter's background and sheer power scale in advance.
Consequently, the moment Peter and Sif touched down, they received an ultra-high-spec diplomatic reception. Irani Rael, Nova Prime and supreme commander of the Nova Corps, personally welcomed Peter and Sif.
However, Peter had zero interest in attending their high-society banquets. He simply wanted to head straight over to check out the Kyln Prison.
Irani didn't refuse his request. A powerhouse capable of capturing a Chitauri Leviathan as a personal joyride deserved absolute privilege no matter where he went in the galaxy.
Thus, under Irani's arrangements, Peter and Sif quickly made their way to the Kyln.
Built right into a floating asteroid belt, this steel fortress served as the Nova Corps' maximum-security facility for locking up the most ruthless criminals in the cosmos.
When Peter and Sif arrived alongside Rhomann Dey, a classic Hollywood-style prison break was currently unfolding in full swing.
Piercing alarm sirens echoed through every alloy corridor. Countless inmates in yellow prison jumpsuits rushed the guards' defensive lines like rabid dogs, with energy blasts and all sorts of makeshift weapons flying wildly through the chaotic crowd.
"Dammit! These bastards are rioting again!" Rhomann Dey slammed a fist onto the console as he watched the utter chaos on the surveillance monitors.
"Take it easy, it's just a small warm-up act," Peter reassured him smoothly.
Then, as if strolling through his own back garden, he led Sif out of the control room with total composure.
The moment they stepped through the door, several bizarre-looking inmates—who clearly looked up to no good—swung stolen energy batons and charged straight at them.
Sif's brow furrowed slightly. With a flick of her wrists, she drew a pair of rapiers, knocking the thugs flat on their backs in two smooth moves.
As Peter and Sif made their way deeper into the cellblocks, more and more blind inmates began swarming forward. Quite a few even cast sleazy, foul glares up and down Sif's figure.
Seeing the flock of buzzing flies growing thicker, Sif was gradually becoming overwhelmed by the sheer numbers.
Peter finally stopped watching from the sidelines and quietly unleashed his Conqueror's Haki.
An invisible atmospheric shockwave swept across the entire prison block like a surging tsunami, instantly driving every single rioting inmate to their knees, eyes rolled back as white foam burst from their mouths!
In the span of a single blink, the overwhelmingly noisy Kyln Prison plunged into absolute, pin-drop silence.
The Nova Corps Centurions who had tagged along behind Rhomann Dey to watch the show nearly wet their pants on the spot!
Holy crap, bro!
With a monster like you sitting on Earth, how on earth is your planet completely unknown in the wider galaxy?!
With the ability to crush whole armies with a single glance, conquering the cosmos would just be a matter of time for you!
Amidst the internal, chaotic screaming of the guards, Peter finally got to meet the exact people he came to see.
Shortly after, five "high-priority suspects" were escorted right in front of Peter.
Leading the group was an Earthman clad in a red leather jacket with a vintage Walkman clipped to his waist. He was trying his absolute best to strike a fierce, rebellious pose, but his darting eyes completely betrayed the anxiety in his chest.
Standing beside him was a green-skinned woman with razor-sharp eyes, her lips tightly pressed together as she sized Peter up with heavy vigilance.
Next to her stood a towering, muscle-bound brute covered in red tattoos, staring blankly up at the ceiling.
And lastly came the most bizarre duo of all: a trash-talking raccoon hopping up and down with a heavy energy rifle strapped to his back, accompanied by a giant wooden figure who could only repeat a single line.
"Hey, kid. The name's Star-Lord... a legendary outlaw!" Peter Quill lowered his voice, forcing a grand, swaggering tone to take control of the situation.
Yet the moment he opened his mouth, the unmistakable aura of a total goofball radiated through.
"I am Groot," the tree-man rumbled in a deep tone.
"Shut up!" Rocket the raccoon slapped Groot's lower leg, baring his sharp teeth as he barked at Peter: "Listen here, kid, I don't care who you are, you better let us out right now! Otherwise, when my crew gets here, you're gonna get a taste of real pain!"
Hearing those words, Sif couldn't help but chuckle. Looking down at the puffed-up little raccoon, she couldn't resist dropping a casual tease:
"And what are you planning to do? Jump up and punch my knees?"
