Chapter 211 - A Peculiar Train of Thought

With these words from Odin, the originally oppressive atmosphere at the scene relaxed slightly. Seeing that the family melodrama seemed to have come to an end, Peter opened his mouth to say:

"Since everything is fine now, I'll be heading back first."

Odin nodded toward him, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly in a somewhat strained smile. Beholding this scenario, Peter was just preparing to turn around and leave when a slightly bashful female voice transmitted from behind him:

"Wait a moment!"

The crowd instinctively turned their heads to look. They discovered that Sif had proactively stepped out from the crowd, her face completely flushed as she arrived before Peter.

"I want to go to Midgard with you."

The exact split second these words came out, the Warriors Three and Thor were altogether stupefied.

Fandral was the first to react, his gaze scanning back and forth between Sif and Peter with an ambiguous look. Volstagg nearly sprayed out the dried meat inside his mouth. Hogun's mouth twitched frantically, his face entirely speechless. Thor was even more utterly dazed:

"Sif? You—"

"I've thought it through clearly." Sif interrupted his words, her gaze burning as she looked at Peter. "I want to go to Midgard!"

"What are you going to Midgard for?" Thor still hadn't reacted.

Sif looked at the thoroughly dazed Thor, then looked at Peter, who was similarly somewhat perplexed. Taking a deep breath, she opened her mouth to say:

"I am going to pursue him!"

"You're going to pursue him?!" Thor pointed at Peter, his voice instantly pulling up an octave.

Sif nodded candidly, without a shred of dodging inside her gaze. She didn't continue looking at Thor; instead, she let her vision fall upon Peter's body, opening her mouth with a bashful yet firm expression:

"Midgardian warrior, though I do not yet know your name, I am certain you are a true warrior!"

"Your courage, your strength, and your heroic bearing on the battlefield have all caused my heart to be moved."

"I want to understand you, to walk closer to you."

"Even if you already have a beloved..." Having spoken to this point, her words paused briefly, yet a moment later she didn't show any timidity. On the contrary, she opened her mouth to say even more loudly, "Then I do not care either. A warrior of Asgard never fears competition."

After finishing these words, Sif turned her head to look toward Odin once more. Placing her hand over her chest, she dropped to one knee and opened her mouth to say:

"All-Father, please permit me to follow this Midgardian warrior and leave Asgard together."

Odin looked at Peter, then looked at Sif. This time, the smile surfacing over his face was visibly much more cheerful. A brief moment later, out of everyone's expectations, he nodded his head:

"Go ahead."

Sif was slightly dazed for a moment before arriving before Peter with a face full of joy, extending her hand toward him. The meaning behind it couldn't be more obvious—hold my hand!

Although Sif had harbored a secret crush on Thor for many years, the two sides ultimately hadn't had any progress. Therefore, her romantic experience was basically zero; at this time, she was merely letting Peter hold her according to the descriptions she had heard from other maidens.

Beholding this silly-older-sister appearance of hers, Peter was directly numbed.

No, I mean, are you warrior women of the Golden Palace all this direct? I haven't even said whether I accept or not; how did you just extend your hand over like this?

He looked at the hand Sif handed over, and subconsciously scrutinized her face with care.

As a renowned goddess in the original work, Sif's aesthetic value was questionable online. At the very least, she was significantly more beautiful than in the movies.

Although her facial features leaned toward heroic—just like her live-action actress—her features were visibly much more delicate, and the aura emitting from her body was also more enchanting.

That kind of martial heroism blended with a few parts of a young girl's unique innocence gave a strong sense of contrast, causing people to subconsciously shift their vision toward her body.

Seeing that everyone around was staring at him, and Sif even maintained a posture of "if you don't hold my hand, I'll just keep holding it up," Peter ultimately still suffered defeat. Letting out a light sigh, he held Sif's hand.

Beholding that Peter had finally held her hand, a winner's smile couldn't resist surfacing over Sif's face. She seized the opportunity to press her entire being up against him, not forgetting to turn her head and wave her hand smugly toward the Warriors Three.

Just like this, the two walked onto the Bifrost, gradually walking further and further away.

Watching Peter and Sif depart, Odin retracted his vision and suddenly opened his mouth to say:

"You are actually inferior even to Sif."

Thor was dazed for a brief moment before looking toward Odin with a face full of pleasant surprise and asking:

"Father, does this mean I can also in the future..."

Odin glanced at him, subsequently letting out a cold snort as he leaned on Gungnir and walked past him. Only after a long while did he speak without turning his head:

"If you have leisure, go to Midgard to walk and look around more."

"The King of the Nine Realms shouldn't merely understand the Nine Realms. You need more tempering. Midgard... is a decent starting point."

Clearly, Odin was tacitly permitting Thor to contact Jane Foster in a disguised manner. This was obviously another butterfly effect caused by Peter.

If this had been placed before today, with Odin's character that was proud to the absolute bone, a mortal female scientist wouldn't even enter his sight.

But everything that occurred today—especially Peter's appearance and the various extreme actions Loki committed—completely altered certain views of his. His own self-righteousness had perhaps truly obstructed his children's growth.

Compared to letting Thor immediately become a powerful and wise ruler, it was better to let him first learn to be a person of flesh and blood. And mortal emotions just happened to be the best teacher.

What's more, a mortal's lifespan was a mere hundred years. As for Thor, he still possessed at least two thousand years of lifespan.

That Midgardian woman was destined to merely be a passing traveler within his life! No matter how deeply they loved each other, in the absolute end, Thor would ultimately still return to Asgard, inherit the throne, and shoulder the burden of the Nine Realms.

Returning to Peter's side.

After confirming with his Byakugan that Odin and the others had entirely entered Asgard, Peter decisively let go of Sif's hand. This sudden withdrawal caused Sif, who was indulging in flights of fancy, to be somewhat unable to grasp the head or tail of the situation for a moment.

Beholding that dazed appearance of hers, Peter couldn't resist feeling somewhat helpless. He carefully organized his wording before opening his mouth to say:

"Lady Sif..."

"Just call me Sif. Or does your Midgard have some other affectionate terms for a wife?" Sif had a face like a curious baby.

Seeing that she wanted to climb up the pole again, Peter hurriedly stopped her:

"Sif, I acknowledge you are a beauty, and I am also very glad to obtain your fondness. But I feel we still lack understanding of each other; you can't even distinguish what admiration is and what liking is.

Therefore, to avoid causing damage to your reputation and heart, I feel we should first give each other a period of time to understand one another mutually."

Seeing Peter display this appearance, Sif's expression suddenly became somewhat dangerous:

"You want to go back on your word?"

"It's not going back on my word." Peter's head grew a bit big, but he still opened his mouth with tolerable patience: "It's that I feel you ought to first establish a deeper understanding of me.

For instance, whether I have bad habits on my body that you cannot endure, whether you can peacefully coexist with the two girlfriends I already have, whether you can adapt to life on Earth, and whether you have truly generated feelings toward me...

At the very least, you should wait until you have answers to all these questions before we formally consider whether to walk together."

Hearing this, Sif pondered for a good while. A brief moment later, her eyes suddenly lit up:

"I understand! From today onward, I will follow you step-by-step without leaving your side, and properly observe the answers to these questions!"

Peter's vision went black.

What kind of peculiar train of thought does this Asgardian woman even have!
