Chapter 54 - You Should’ve Said You Were Just Asking for Directions!

From New York to Afghanistan, the straight-line distance exceeds 10,000 kilometers. On a standard red-eye flight, this journey would take at least sixteen or seventeen hours.

But thanks to the Glider reinforced by Wheel of Fortune, Peter set foot on Afghan soil in less than eight hours. It was fast, incredibly fast, but the experience was... suboptimal.

Upon landing, Peter performed a "rare historical footage of an early human trying to reclaim control of his facial features and limbs."

"The Iron Man suit... I really can't delay that any longer," he grumbled, immediately activating his Byakugan.

With the Byakugan active, a 360-degree, zero-blind-spot panoramic view unfolded. The Glider plus the Byakugan was arguably the ultimate reconnaissance setup.

With this combo, Peter quickly located a terrorist cell tucked away in the rugged terrain.

"Alright, you'll do!"

Without a second thought, Peter performed a leap of faith.

On the perimeter of the base, a patrolman carrying an AK pointed at the night sky and shouted to his companion in Dari: "Hey, look! A shooting star!"

His companion, holding a sniper rifle, looked up at the "star." The longer he looked, the more uneasy he felt. "Uh, brother... why do I feel like that star is getting... closer?"

He instinctively raised his scope. One look, and his soul nearly left his body. "Holy crap, that's a person!"

Before they could react, Peter was less than a hundred meters from the ground. Under their dumbfounded stares, his rapidly falling body suddenly became as light as a sheet of paper.

Then, his feet kicked the air several times—shhh-shhh-shhh—and he came to a steady "hover" in mid-air!

These were two of the Rokushiki techniques Peter had just acquired: Kami-e (Paper Drawing) and Geppo (Moonwalk). The former allowed him to relax his body to float like paper on the wind, while the latter allowed him to walk on air by kicking with explosive force.

This time, Peter didn't plan on using his Glider's weapons. He wanted to use these terrorists as live practice dummies to complete the "Rokushiki Field Test" he couldn't finish back in New York.

The two terrorists, never having seen a monster like Peter, pulled their triggers without thinking.

Rat-tat-tat-tat!

Bullets rained down. Peter remained suspended, motionless.

Tekkai! (Iron Body)

With a thought, Peter's muscles tightened instantly. Under the moonlight, his skin took on a faint, metallic sheen.

Clang-clang-clang-clang!

The bullets hit his "flesh and blood," yet they produced the distinct sound of metal striking metal! Not a single drop of blood was drawn. The bullets simply flattened against him or became "embedded" in his surface without piercing the skin.

As Peter deactivated Tekkai, the 7.62mm rifle rounds fell to the ground with a rhythmic tink-tink-tink, leaving not even a scratch.

Two 12.7mm sniper rounds were stubbornly lodged in his skin, requiring Peter to manually dig them out. After popping them out, he checked the area—no broken skin, just a slight bruise.

Not bad. I really can tank a Barrett now!

Peter was quite satisfied with the Tekkai results. As a reward, he decided to give these two a quick end.

Soru! (Shave)

Peter's legs blurred. In the blink of an eye, he kicked the ground dozens of times, propelling himself across the hundred-meter gap instantly. He appeared directly in front of the two men.

Shigan! (Finger Pistol)

He extended his index fingers and tapped the center of their foreheads. With two muffled thuds, his fingers pierced their skulls like hot knives through butter, scrambling their brains instantly.

"Next up..."

Peter looked toward the main camp, where terrorists were scrambling out of their tents, half-dressed and panicked by the gunfire. He raised his leg in a motion similar to a soccer kick.

Vroom—!

As his right foot whipped out, a pale blue "blade of air" over ten meters long tore through the atmosphere with a sharp whistle.

Schwing! Schwing!

The sound of blades tearing through flesh echoed. One by one, the terrorists were sliced clean in half by this Rankyaku (Storm Leg). Because the strike was so fast, some of the severed legs managed to take two more steps forward before the bodies collapsed in a heap.

With a single Rankyaku, Peter had slaughtered dozens. But it didn't stop there! The terrifying kinetic energy hadn't dissipated. The pale blue crescent slammed into a stone watchtower in the rear, slicing through the structure entirely.

Rumble!

The upper half of the tower slid down the mirror-smooth cut and crashed to the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of dust. When the dust settled, only a half-meter-high stump remained.

"Run! Run away!" "A demon! It's a demon! That thing isn't human!"

The survivors went mad. Some screamed "Allah!" and dropped their guns to flee, while others simply put their muzzles to their own heads and pulled the trigger.

Looking at the fleeing survivors, Peter gave a cruel smile. He aimed at the nearest runner. Instead of chasing with Soru, he made a flicking motion with his fingers.

Zip—!

An almost invisible bullet of compressed air shot out, hitting the terrorist squarely in the back of the heart. Blood sprayed, and the man dropped instantly.

This was an extension of Shigan used by Rob Lucci: Tobu Shigan: Bachi! (Flying Finger Pistol: Fire).

Peter estimated the range of this air bullet was about twenty meters. If he infused it with Chakra, it could reach fifty.

For longer distances, he'd need a pebble or a shell casing. With his strength and Shigan technique, he could easily headshot someone hundreds of meters away with a small stone.

After using his Byakugan to hunt down every last survivor, Peter walked to the deepest part of the hideout. He dragged out the leader, who had long since soiled his pants, and hoisted him by the collar.

He asked, brief and to the point: "Where is the Ten Rings headquarters? Tell me, and I might let you live."

The terrorist leader trembled, his voice cracking: "Wait, brother... You should've said you were just here to ask for directions!"
