The dining table looks magnificent tonight. Hot steam rises from plates of roasted venison, creamy mushroom soup filled with mama herbs, fresh vegetables, and warm bread straight from the oven. At the center sits Aleena's special Elven dish — delicate rice mixed with moonflower petals and spiced talong mushrooms. The entire room smells incredible.
Everyone sits around the long table except for two empty chairs reserved for Lola and Roku. I pull out my phone and call Lola.
"We're almost there," she answers, sounding slightly nervous.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rings. I stand up and walk toward the front door. The moment I open it, both women step inside.
