"Of course," I say, smiling. "Are you currently in a party?"
"I'm not in a party right now," she says, shaking her head as her ears droop slightly. "I'm a solo adventurer. No party wants someone with my class. They think I'll just slow them down or become a distraction. And I still can't afford the fee to start my own party."
I lean forward slightly, locking eyes with her. "Then if I create a party… would you join me?"
Roku's eyes light up instantly.
"Yes!" she blurts out without hesitation, her voice bursting with excitement. She jumps to her feet so quickly that her chair screeches loudly across the floor. "Thank you, Jacob! You have no idea how much this means to—"
In her excitement, she steps toward me too fast and misjudges the distance. Her foot catches the edge of the rug, and she stumbles forward with a startled yelp.
