Seris confronted him that evening.
"You're stabilizing too fast," she said.
Kael crossed his arms. "That's a problem?"
"It means you're adapting," she replied. "And that means something inside you is guiding it."
Kael didn't deny it.
Seris stepped closer.
Her presence was sharp, controlled.
"If you lose control," she said, "I will stop you."
Kael met her gaze.
"…Then don't let me."
A pause.
Then something shifted in her expression.
