Leon stayed in his room for the rest of the day, not going anywhere. Not like he could have explored the place, after all, his condition wasn't so good after all.
He looked at the money in his account, comparing it with the level of wealth he was lying in now, it looked so inconsequential. 'This is so hard to accept.'
Well, there was no need to think it over. While he was well aware of the value of beast/monster cores to summoners and their summons, it was useless to him, at least for the time being.
Just as summons were divided into different grades from 1 through 6, that was how monsters and dungeon beasts were ranked in strength. A summon yet to reach its potential could use the core of another monster of similar rank to cultivate their own strength, by absorbing the essence of the fallen monster stored within the core.
The standard process was such that, only cores of similar ranks could be absorbed without any risks at all, and a core one rank above the summon could pose danger, as the potency of the essence is too strong and could damage the summon in some conditions. As for lower cores, it would be like trying to fill up a lake using water from a bucket—you'd need a lot of buckets, and even then, the progress would be negligible.
Leon's summons were all peak Grade 1 skeletons, and their potential was Grade 1, there was nothing to improve at all, the cores, while useful for grade 1 monsters, were useless to him, how could he not have chosen to sell for money instead. Money he was severely lacking.
The thought to keep the cores did cross his mind for a second, but summons at the peak of every Grade would need a higher Grade monster core to break through into that next level. Of course, simple having the core wasn't the only determining factor, but it was a crucial one nonetheless.
While he thought of his bank account situation, he heard a firm knock on his door, three consecutive times. He waited for a moment, and when no response was given, the one knocking, instead of leaving or knocking again, opened the door directly and entered the room. It was only then that Leon realised that his door had not been locked.
A beautiful girl his age came into his room, closing the door behind her. She had a graceful air about her, showing a fine light curvy body, moderately endowed, with dark hair flowing down to her hips. She was wearing a fitting trouser and jacket that did nothing to hide her dimensions behind them.
Watching her, a few thoughts went through Leon's mind. Who exactly was this? And why was she so bold entering his room like she just did?
Before he could ask a question, though, the girl who looked to be a bit older than him spoke, her expression serious. "Finally came around, only when you were sent returned by the academy." She said, cold.
"I chose to, I wasn't forced." Leon chose to respond calmly. While her expression as cold and her voice and words seemed mocking, they were not devoid of feelings, and what he felt wasn't negative. Intriguing.
"And what that about clearing a dungeon solo? Just what have you been up to?" She asked, her brows knitting together in search for an answer.
Just as Leon opened his mouth to answer, his door blasted open, and another girl rushed inside, almost sprinting towards him. Unlike the first, she looked more around his age, and visibly worried, unlike the first.
"Lili!!" She exclaimed in a shaky voice.
"Lili?" Leon questioned out loud unknowingly. It was such an embarrassing thing to hear. The girl pounced on him. He had approximately one second to register both the name and the incoming trajectory before she landed on the bed, and because his leg was in a cast and entirely unable to move out of the path of anything, he did the only thing available, which was raise both hands and a pillow between himself and the impact.
That was the wrong move, though.
She landed directly on his leg.
The sound Leon made was not dignified. It was short and suppressed and entirely involuntary, a compressed scream that he drove back down through sheer force of will, and he sat there gritting his teeth while the pain radiated upward in waves and the girl scrambled off the bed in a panic, her movements doing nothing helpful for the leg in the process.
"Are you ok?! Oh my God, I didn't even notice! I shouldn't have done that, I'm so sorry, forgive me, I—your leg, it's all wrapped up, what happened, Lili, oh no—"
The dark haired girl watched all of this without a single change in expression. Then, with the measured energy of someone who had reached a threshold, she crossed the room, took the blonde by the collar, and pulled her back.
"That's enough, Alice."
Only after hearing that name, did Leon's memory seem to have cracked open, and he remembered who these two were. 'Wait, Alice, I have a sister?... Two step-sisters? Oh damn.' Leon looked at them closer this time studying them as much as he could. He had such beautiful sisters, and had somehow forgotten completely! This only proved his theory that there were a lot of missing fragments in what he got from the Leon in this world.
"Alice… and Alyssa." He said out loud, though more to himself and quiet, both girls still heard him.
Both of them heard it, and both of them noticed immediately, the way he said it, careful, exploratory, like someone identifying rather than greeting.
Alice's expression shifted first. "Lili? Are you…"
"I'm sorry, I couldn't recognize you for a second there. There are gaps—" Leon said, before she could finish the question he could see forming. "—in my memory. The nurse said it was likely temporary amnesia from the injury." He kept it brief and matter of fact. "I'm sorry about that." He said with a mild smile.
