"Only a few moments," Rebecca answered. "The instant I realized he had regained consciousness, I sent someone to fetch you."
The physician gave a small nod of approval before immediately turning his full attention to Cedric.
As he began examining him, Rebecca stepped back to give him enough room to work, although her heart continued pounding against her chest for reasons she couldn't explain. She had waited so long for Cedric to open his eyes that now he finally had, she found herself afraid that something might still go wrong.
Meanwhile, after receiving the message that the Lord Commander had awakened, both the king and queen arrived without delay. Their footsteps filled the chamber before Rosalind's eyes immediately searched for Rebecca.
"Rebecca?" Rosalind called softly.
Rebecca turned toward her with eyes that were still slightly red from crying, yet a smile finally found its way onto her face.
