Rosalind pulled away from the hug first, still completely shocked by what was happening. "What... what are you doing here?" she asked, her chest rising and falling quickly. "Don't tell me you came to take me away?" she asked again in a hushed voice because she knew someone was still outside the door.
Rowan slowly lowered his hands to his sides. "I wish that was the case," he admitted.
"No..." Rosalind said immediately.
"That's not why I came here," Rowan replied, his voice lower this time.
Her brows furrowed as she stared at him, still trying to process the fact that he was standing inside her room after everything they had promised Alaric. Had Rowan gone mad already? Why would he do this?
"Then why have you come?" she asked quietly.
He drew in a breath and stepped closer. "I... I came to see you," he confessed.
