Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Storm

Warning: Blood, elderly abuse

The two groups looked at each other. James's mind raced with panic. "It finally happened, what do I do, what do I say. I'm going to die from a heart attack," he thought to himself. James looked back at Pia; she just looked back. He looked at the two teenagers standing before them, one of whom was taller with an awesome afro than the other. He wants to go over there and talk to them. He looked at Apau and the rest of his spirits. Past life? He didn't know what they were called, but he was going to call them his spirits for now. They didn't say anything, then he let go of her hand, which slowly fell from her grip. And started to walk over there.

Pia was unsure about them. She looked at James who was also lost in thought, thinking to herself, "I can't attack them without any reason, yet if a fight happens, I might need to. The tall one with the afro might be an issue, the shorter one with the diamond on his chest could also be a problem. Yet neither of them looks like much of a fighter in general." Pia let go of James, unsure, but she knew he could make a good distraction if worse outcomes happened.

Jeff, the two strangers looked at us. I looked at Mason, saying, "We should go over and talk with them." He was unsure about that, even though I was unsure about talking to them myself. Atlas didn´t say anything, but I know they were watching this go down all the same. The woman had long brown hair with long streaks of white running through it. The barely taller guy had wavy black hair, and he looked friendlier than the Sakura genderbend girl. Then the guy walked closer to us, and I started walking closer too. I whispered to myself "I really hope this guy is James Li."

Mason didn't trust them, but a storm of thought went through his head, "I could fight them off or we could run now. That's dumb, I think we've come this far, so why should we leave now? They could get us some answers." I saw Jeff, he was also thinking, realizing the only way to get an answer was to go talk to them. I let go of this hand as he slowly walked towards them. I wasn't that threatening, but the woman scared me for some reason. Maybe it was because of her cool-looking hair.

James and Jeff meet each other, just looking, James quickly notices his freckles and his dark brown eyes. Jeff notices the guy's lighter brown eyes; they both slightly blush at each other. Jeff looked over to see the woman's face, and he was still blushing slightly. James held out his hand to him. Jeff shook his hand, speaking first, "My name is Jeffy Abaddon but you could just call me Jeff." James replied with, "My name is James Li you can call me James." Jeff smiled warmly, "Nice to meet you, James." James said back, "Nice to meet you too, Jeff." Jeff then pulled James' hand closer, then looked at his hand, "Your hands look worn out." James laughed, "Yeah, being stuck here over a month can do that to you." He looked past Jeff at the stranger behind him. Jeff replied with, "Mason, who's behind me," pointing to the woman behind James. "That Pia," the boys waved over the other members of their group. Mason looked around at everyone before saying, "My name is Mason Jones you can call me Mason for short." James shook his hand, which kind of threw off Mason. Pia didn't say anything, just looked at them planning. James said, "She is not much of a talker. We'd better find somewhere we could sleep at night." Mason looked around to the others, thinking to himself, "Gosh this is what it feels like to have a bi-panic for the first time!"

Everyone agreed as they found a place under the trees, as Jeff looked at them, "Guys just do not freak out or anything." His eyes glowed ruby red as he made a large white tent. Pia noticed his diamond had cracked. James looked at the tents before them. "That's cool, man. How can you do that?" Jeff slightly smiled appreciatively, "I don't know my power came from my diamond embedded in my chest," James looked at it, bending down curiously, "Can I touch it?" Jeff said, "Sure," James touched the diamond, inspecting it, feeling the cracks in the gem. "I only got abilities over time, and some level of energy control." Pia interrupted the conversation breaking the silence, "Why did you only make one tent?" Jeff looked at her, "What?" Pia replied, pointing to the tent, "Why did you only make one tent? Don't you have the ability to make more than one tent?" Jeff looked at the tent, saying, "I guess I could make another tent, but I never did." Pia looked at him, confused. "You could have a tent for both of you instead of sleeping in one tent together." Mason looked at her, trying to change the subject, "We can't change the past, let just focus on the now." They soon felt rain pour upon them. They all got in the tent. Soon, it started as the wind started to pull the tent apart. Pia pulled out a knife from the dark blue backpack and cut open the tent. "Come on, let's find somewhere else," all of them ran out of the tent into the forest. Under a large oak tree, Jeff says, "We need to find a better shelter." The storm picked up worsening the lightning and struck a nearby tree behind them. They kept running for a mile until they saw a tower in the distance. They started to get closer to the tower, seeing it before them. It was miles into the sky, unable to see the top. Pia walked back, saying, "We can find somewhere to stay." James looked at her, mouthing trust me. Jeff and Mason walked up first. Pia thought about it, then quietly agreed as they walked up with the others. Mason knocked on the door after a moment, and the door slowly opened. An old, wrinkly, pale woman had a large, grey nightgown. She had pure white withering hair. She mumbled to herself, not looking them in the eye, then waved them inside.

James said, "Thank you so much, madam." The woman didn't meet their gaze. She just said, "No problem, anything to help, someone in need." They looked into her eyes and glazed over a grayish white she smiled, "I don't need my eyes to see, I can feel the sense of energy running through your body. Now let me show you to your room." They followed upstairs; they all groaned to themself as they walked up the flights of stairs. James thought to himself, "The tower was and was clustered with books, paintings, and other household appliances." She kept mumbling to herself about something about a god. They walked up the stairs. It was claustrophobic every inch; he nearly slipped on a couple of books. He wondered what the main difference was between her and Nolan. She had different rooms: her room which was on the opposite side of the room standing before them and a room on the left side of the room. When they reached the top there was a large wooden door. She opened the door. It neatly put together a 14 ft x 18 ft bedroom with two large king-size beds at the end of the wall around the only window. There were lovely handcrafted nightstands with one blue-shaded lamp. She said, "I guess I should let you all sleep," and she left the room, closing the door as they heard her footsteps disappear. Pia looked at them, locking the door, "We are not sleeping here. This woman is clearly not all there in the head space." James was offended by this saying, "She lets us stay here for a night," Mason piped up, saying, "It's odd that she lets us stay here without any question, and speaks English." Pia looked at him, agreeing, "She is clearly planning something, and this is the only room in her whole tower that is clean." Mason looked around the room. "It is off suspects," James looked at Jeff, "Back me up, Jeff." Everyone looked at Jeff for his answer. "Hey, I am not going to pick any side," Jame replied, smudged, "We can't go back outside anyway." He moved over to the window opening the grayish-blue curtains as they all heard the storm outside, seeing the wind pick up, knocking down a couple of trees. Pia looked at them, knowing James won this argument, "Then we have a sleeping cycle. I will be first, then I woke up Mason, and then later James, and Jeff last."

They all agreed on the plan as they went to sleep, James closing the curtain. Pia stayed awake, and soon her eyes felt tired so she had to force her eyes open. Going over towards Mason, saying, "Hey, Mason, it's your turn." She pushed him, but he wouldn't wake up. She opened his eyes and there was a gaze of navy blue over them. She went over to James, who also wouldn't wake up, and finally, Jeff, too with the same blue gaze over them. She mumbled to herself "Man I can't leave these guys here with this blind grandma." Then the door busted open, and the pale woman ran inside,

Pia tried to punch her in the head. Fire engulfed her fist, but the woman was too fast; she got chopped in the neck as she went down. Pia didn't go down without a fight, biting the woman in the arm, causing the old woman to recoil back. "You foolish brat! May the gods make your death painful!" The woman yelled out. Pia licked the blood from her lips and charged at the woman, hitting her in the ribs. The woman jumped up, running across the wall like a spider. Pia was surprised to be going to blast yet that would most likely kill everyone in the room if she did that. The nimble old lady jumped on Pia's back, trying to throw her to the ground. Pia slammed back and the woman to the ground hearing a cracking sound. Pia grabbed the woman's head, which hit the ground over and over, and blood more cracked than the last, spilled from her nose. Pia growled, "Just die already, you old witch!" The woman's eyes locked onto Pia's hit chest. She wrapped her arms around Pia and hit her with a German Suplex. Pia hit the ground, body shaking, punching her over and over in the head into the cold ground and the woman spat on Pia's body, blood mixing with saliva. The woman made a circle around them, saying something in a different language, her eyes glowing navy blue, before Pia's world went dark as her eyes slowly closed.
