"We are both alike, Levi. We hate evil, and would do anything to save our own. But time is no longer in your hands. You're out of luck and power to defeat my purpose."

The delusion of a sunny gigantic dome is choked with masses of flesh and tendrils, indescribable things. Popping veins and rigid tentacles anchor to the ground as the entity secretes a thick, suffocating musk, dominating the space as it pleases. Thickened tendrils have already pierced through three soldiers, impaling them where they stand. They are unconscious as it feeds on them, savoring every ounce.

A man is on his knees. Torn combat suit, empty weapon, his legs imprisoned by tentacles.

He looks at the corpses he considered his brothers, his father figures, and his first love, all taken in split seconds. Just because of an outbreak... an experiment... traitors... me.

This was the first and final mission to be recorded as the official trigger for the downfall of the Axolotl Squad.

Why is this happening? What did they do to deserve this? Was it because I killed him? Or because I wasn't able to save him? I can't take this anymore.

I can't let this happen. I have to do something... I have to...

He feels the chip embedded in his neck. Memories flicker: the grueling training sessions with Brooks, the warmth of a home, the sense of family he lost since childhood. Orion's foolish trust in me, a brotherhood he once hated but cherished as time passed by. Suki's care, always looking out for me despite her traumatic past. Everyone was there for me. But, he cannot be with them anymore. He was stripped of the only thing he had left, losing every drop of his blood, using every remaining cell just to stay conscious. If he slips now, he will never see them again, he will never see himself ever again.

"Just as a courtesy for letting me have them, I'll let you live. After all, you have already faced enough loss. But I cannot let them live."

A chilling sensation rattles his spine as he looks up. Lumps of living flesh grow across the dome, merging into a single entity. His comrade is slowly being absorbed into the mass. The man shudders, seizing; he cannot digest the thought of letting them go.

The entire lab has collapsed, destined to become a fake Atlantis, a watery grave meant to cover up one of the most horrifying experiments in history.

I have to face a life without them. Without the only ones I considered family. I could let them all die as promised... but if I'm the only one left... I CAN'T TAKE IT... NO, NO, NO! NOT ANYMORE!

[CODE ARCANE WARNING: SUBJECT NEURON HAS BYPASSED KILLSWITCH. PROCEED TO BE ELIMINATED — BE ADVISED IN 3, 2, 1.]

He decides to let the human lose his humanity to save his comrade. He was selfish for once his entire life, and it cost him everything. This moment marks the beginning of the termination of one of the most successful and valuable possessions of all time: PROJECT AXOLOTL.

"Scouter! What should I do?!" she screams, witnessing the horror of his leader is about to break the final rule, discarding the last thing keeping him human. He is turning into something classified as one of the most dangerous entities to ever exist.
