Chapter 51 - VI. APOLOGY

Three days passed and it took the children and their mothers working around the clock to stop both men from storming into the palace.

It didn't even take two steps outside of the banquet hall before Opal collapsed. She was immediately unconscious. The doctor didn't say anything, to be precise, he didn't know why she collapsed so easily.

Sena had to step forward and tell the doctor that Opal started occasionally touching her forehead with her eyebrows furrowed, like she was getting a headache.

Hearing that, the doctor reexamined Opal. "If that's the case, Madam having a fever would help her, but it can't get too hot." He said to them.

The fever broke on the third night. Opal woke up coughing. "Take it easy, mother." A cup was placed to her lips. Opal drank the water as she opened her eyes. Rain held her up when she started coughing, in case she choked on her blood while Kain gave her the water.

She tapped his wrist and Kain moved the cup away. "Boys." She smiled and Kain looked away from her as his eyes welled with tears. "If it wasn't for this meeting, we never would've brought you here. Let alone let you go through this." He mumbled.

"I know but it's something that must be done." Opal said softly. "If this happens again, I won't hold back. No matter who or what the person is." Kain said as he wiped his face. Opal looked up at her oldest, he was silently crying.

"If you feel uncomfortable, you need to tell us immediately. Otherwise, the doctor can't help you. Okay?" Opal reached up and wiped a tear from his cheek. "Okay." She coughed twice and Kain raised the cup, but she raised her hand. "It's fine."

A knock came to the door. "What is it?" Kain asked as he put the cup down. "The King and Queen of Palk brought their daughter, Princess Palari to the Mansion gates. They are asking for an audience." A servant reported.

"Call my wife, sister-in-law and the doctor. My mother has woken up." The servant bowed to the door. "Right away, Second Master." The servant rushed off to inform Varin and Soria.

Once the children heard their grandmother was awake, they rushed over as well. Rain propped Opal up with pillows, so that she wasn't completely laying down anymore. They didn't leave when the doctor and everyone else arrived.

Once the doctor examined Opal and said that she was almost recovered. He hinted at both her underlying illness and the cold she caught on the way to the Capital. Once the doctor said those words, Rain and Kain left the room.

"Father." Sera and Sena walked out behind them. Rain turned and looked at them. They didn't speak for a few seconds. Rain nodded and they followed the two to the gates.

Railin wanted to bring Palari earlier, but he knew that it wasn't the time. For some reason, today he thought would be the best time, so he tied his daughter up and dragged her to the Mansion of the family.

Malari had kicked her daughter's knees so that she knelt in the sun in front of the steps. It wouldn't do anything help clear the humiliation she gave them but he wasn't going to risk his Kingdom for his reckless daughter.

The gates opened and four people walked out of the mansion. "Princes." Railin greeted them. They bowed their heads to them King and Queen. "King Railin. Is there a reason for you bringing her here?" Kain asked.

"This is nothing compared to what she caused but we wish for my daughter to apologize." Sena scoffed. "Apologize?" She walked forward, slowly. Her eyes on Palari.

"Your daughter didn't just humiliate my grandmother or my family. She humiliated the entire Ojun Kingdom." She stopped three steps away from Palari and looked at the pair.

"She has you to protect her, but you don't have your people to protect her. The entire Kingdom wouldn't go to war protect her. Not even Regila would be able to protect her, let alone Lino." Sena took another step down.

"We were finally able to get my grandmother stable. She didn't have to make this trip, but Grandfather and Grandmother couldn't leave the Kingdom, so as the next elder in the family, she decided to make the trip. We left early to make sure she was comfortable. We got here, entered that palace and your daughter accused my mother of selling my grandmother like she was some whore."

Sena, now standing in front of Palari, lifted her foot and kicked Palari in the chest. The sound of bones cracking was accompanied by Palari vomiting blood. Malari and Railin didn't move, they stood silently and watched the young girl.

Sena wiped her foot in Palari's clothes with a sneer. "Dirty." She turned and walked back up the stairs. "Control your daughter or the next time, it'll be her head that my foot connects with." Sera looked at Railin and he nodded.

"Enough, Sena. Your grandmother is willing to give Palk the benefit of the doubt. If it happens again, she won't say anything in their defense." Soria's voice came from inside the house.

Sena and Sera bowed to the couple before walking back inside. Rain looked at Malari and Railin. "This account is settled because of my mother. Go back in the palace and tell your grandsons that there are three instances where they crossed the line. Cross it again and I wouldn't mind breaking a few things."

The brothers walked into the front yard and the gates closed behind them. "Someone would think you're a Bandit." Kain joked. "That's where I spent my first few years, those habits have gotten us this far." He chuckled.

Railin picked up Palari and took her into the carriage. "This can't happen again. If she doesn't take our advice then we won't pay her any mind." Malari said as she looked at her unconscious daughter on the floor of the carriage.

"I didn't get a good look at her but it's best to tell those children not to mess with them. That young girl was going to kill Palari and I wouldn't have been able to stop her. She wasn't even exerting her full strength." Railin explained to his wife because he knew that she didn't know how close they actually came to losing another daughter.

"Then she's more powerful that Lion." Malari stated. "She's more powerful than Kai. This family is more than they want others to believe. If these children mess anything up again, they'll wipe us out in the middle of the night." Railin said seriously.

"They said something that I can't help but to agree with now." Malari looked at her husband. "We're helpless without Poloria." Railin sighed deeply and kissed her temple.
