Queen Mother's POV
My personal maid walked into the drawing room and bowed. "Your Majesty, Your highness." She bowed to us before walking to me with a letter in hand. "Her highness sent a letter." She said before handing it to me.
I open the letter and read the contents. I grab my glass and throw it at him. "You idiot! What did you do?!" He dodged the glass and looked at me shocked. "Mother, no matter what, did you need to throw that at my head?" I waved the maid away. She bowed and left the room, closing the doors behind her.
"Be lucky that I can't bear to cut you open and scrape out your insides." I throw the letter at him. "See for yourself the mess you've made." The letter dropped to the ground, and he picked it up off the floor. He scoffed. "She's just gone for a few months, is there really a need to behave this way?"
"This Princess is someone that survived on her own in the times the Continent was constantly riddled in war. Five full years of peace is new to this continent, but a calm surface always has a turbulent under current." He rolled his eyes. "It's not a big deal mother; she told you that she would leave occasionally, didn't she? We knew this."
"Yes, I wouldn't be panicked if there was some sort of movement, but you can't even touch her finger let alone get her pregnant." He sighed. "Mother, I know it's been three months, but things take time. We'd never met before the ceremony but she's talking to me more and we've been getting closer."
I scoff. "This isn't time for lovely dovey shit. I have a feeling things are going to change soon, and we need to be prepared for it. I didn't sacrifice everything to get you in this position for nothing. You can't just take things at face value." He nodded. "Yes, yes. I know."
"You don't! There is no other powerful power at play here other than the Pendant Tower. It rose up from nowhere, placing one three story building in the capitals of all the seven Kingdoms, almost overnight. No Kingdom has met the person in charge, nor have they been able to find any leverage over those working in the Towers."
"Despite their unshakeable position in every Kingdom, they have decided to stay neutral. Although they are powerful, they are also untouchable. Our best bet to protect ourselves will be and has always been Palk Kingdom. So, you need to work harder. If we get Poloria on our side, then everything becomes easier."
"Fine. I'll return to the mansion and see if I can catch her." I throw another glass at him as he stood up. "Look at the date of the letter! It was just sent but it was written seven days ago. You've been staying here for seven days which means she left that night. She clearly wanted to leave without hassle. We can only wait until she returns. Stay in the palace and catch up on your work."
"You think I cannot find my own wife?" He asked as he sat back down. "No one could find her for over ten years while she roamed around without guards and without her status as the Eldest Princess, first in line for the throne of Palk Kingdom! You think you can find her now? You've barely even left the Capital let alone the Kingdom." He scoffed.
"Yes, I'm not as explorative as brother." I sighed. "That was not what I meant. For now, stay in the palace." A knocked sounded before the doors opened. "Your Majesty. Young Prince Kai is missing."
"Have you sent people to find him?" I asked. "We were about to, but news was sent that he left with her highness." I sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. If not, we don't know what she would've done." I look at the prince. "Head back and keep an eye on the rest of the children in case they run off as well." He stood up and bowed before leaving.
If he weren't my own flesh and blood...
