Damon's expression darkened the moment Rafael mentioned Jacob's name.
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, his gaze remained fixed beyond Rafael, lost in thoughts he had no intention of sharing.
A few moments later, Alpha Albe and Alpha Xyro finally stood from their seats and moved toward the table. Both of them sat directly across from Damon, their eyes fixed on him expectantly.
The atmosphere inside the office became unusually heavy.
All three Alphas were waiting for an answer.
But Damon remained silent.
When it became obvious that he wasn't planning to speak, Rafael sighed and asked again.
"Damon," he repeated calmly, "what's happening to Jacob?"
This time, Damon finally looked at them.
Three pairs of eyes stared back at him.
Curious.
Suspicious.
Concerned.
At that moment, Damon wondered if telling them anything was the right decision. A part of him wanted to keep Jacob's situation known to as few people as possible.
