Chapter 405 - Chapter 405 Pick the Softest Persimmon

Weavile was moving at high speed, but this sea was ultimately not its home turf.

Its Ice and Dark-type combination was completely countered by the Water and Dark-type overlord, Sharpedo, while out on the sea.

Weavile was, after all, not a Water-type Pokémon.

Every time it formed ice, it consumed a large amount of stamina, and these thin sheets of ice were extremely unstable in the violent sea, liable to be shattered by a big wave at any moment.

Shelly watched Weavile scrambling across the ice, a cruel smile appearing on her face.

"What a pathetic little thing; in my sea, you can't even manage to stand still."

She said leisurely, as if enjoying a tragedy whose ending had long been destined.

"Sharpedo, stop playing with it. Use Aqua Jet and knock it into the sea first!"

Sharpedo's massive body was enveloped in a layer of azure water, its speed instantly increasing by a notch!

It no longer moved in a straight line but instead carved a strange arc across the sea surface, bypassing Greninja's frontal interception and aiming straight for Weavile, who was in the middle of changing its footing!

"Oh no!"

Alarm bells rang in Ariel's mind.

Weavile had just leaped onto a newly formed piece of floating ice and hadn't even steadied itself before that lethal blue water-shadow rushed right in front of it.

It didn't even have time to freeze more ice to escape!

At the critical moment, a black shadow flashed out from the side.

It was Greninja!

It had actually anticipated Sharpedo's attack route and arrived with equally astonishing speed, extending its long tongue to wrap around Weavile's waist and throwing it backward with a violent jerk!

"Boom!"

Sharpedo's Aqua Jet grazed Weavile's afterimage and slammed into the floating ice, which instantly shattered into countless fragments, swept into the water by the immense impact, and kicked up a pillar of water that shot into the sky.

Weavile, thrown to the rear, landed with lingering fear on another water cushion that Greninja had casually created, letting out a sharp cry as if to express its thanks.

"Oh? Not bad reflexes."

Shelly raised an eyebrow slightly, but then her smile deepened.

"Good teamwork, but unfortunately, in the face of absolute power, these little tricks are meaningless. Sharpedo, show them what a shark's hunt is all about!"

Sharpedo seemed angered by its previous miss; it came to an abrupt stop in the water, kicking up a huge wave, and then suddenly opened its blood-red maw, large enough to swallow an adult human.

Dark purple energy gathered between its interlocking sharp teeth, and an ominous aura began to spread.

"Crunch!"

Shelly's command was concise and lethal.

This time, Sharpedo's target was still Weavile!

Pick the easiest target!

It abandoned its flashy maneuvers and, with the most pure and violent posture, kicked up a wall of water nearly two meters high, crushing straight toward Weavile!

The wall of water in front, the shark's maw behind!

This time, there was no escaping!

"Weavile, Protect!"

Ariel's voice carried a hint of determination.

A fierce look flashed in Weavile's eyes; it knew it couldn't dodge.

It crossed its claws, mobilizing all its energy without reservation, and an emerald-green energy barrier instantly unfurled in front of it!

"Clang—!"

A loud noise like metal clashing rang out.

Sharpedo's teeth, shimmering with an ominous light, bit solidly into the Protect barrier.

The powerful force caused the barrier to tremble violently, with cracks even appearing on its surface.

Weavile was pushed far backward by this immense force, the ice beneath its feet cracking inch by inch.

It blocked it!

Just as Ariel let out a sigh of relief, Shelly's cold voice rang out again without a second of hesitation.

"Naive! Hydro Pump!"

Sharpedo's tactical execution was terrifying.

Before the energy from Crunch had completely dissipated, its maw had already opened again, giving Weavile absolutely no chance to catch its breath.

A terrifying pillar of water, several times thicker than the previous Aqua Jet, erupted from its throat!

The success rate of using Protect consecutively drops sharply! This was common knowledge for Trainers, and a veteran of the sea like Shelly utilized this to the extreme!

Weavile had just used all its strength to block Crunch; it was at the moment when its old strength was spent and new strength had yet to form.

It watched helplessly as the green barrier flickered twice in front of it, like a candle in the wind, and with a "pop," it extinguished completely.

In the next second, the devastating Hydro Pump slammed solidly into its body.

"Woooo—!"

Weavile let out a shrill, tragic cry, its entire body blasted away like a kite with a broken string, rolling across the sea surface, shattering several pieces of previously frozen ice, and finally falling powerlessly into the cold seawater; it struggled only twice before losing consciousness, and bright red blood seeped from its body, staining a small area of the sea red.

Severely injured!

"Well done, Sharpedo. Go, swallow it!"

Shelly declared victory, her eyes full of satisfaction.

Sharpedo, smelling the scent of blood, became even more excited; with a flick of its tail, it rushed toward Weavile floating on the water, its giant maw open, ready to enjoy its prize.

"Don't you dare!"

Ariel's eyes were splitting with rage; almost the instant Weavile was hit by Hydro Pump, he had already pulled out a Poké Ball.

A beam of red light shot from his hand, precisely enveloping Weavile's body.

Just a second before Sharpedo's sharp teeth were about to close, Weavile turned into red light and was recalled into the Poké Ball in time.

"Snap!"

Sharpedo bit into nothingness, its sharp teeth clashing together with a teeth-gritting sound.

It circled the spot unwillingly, its scarlet eyes turning toward the only remaining opponent on the sea.

The wind and waves remained, but the battlefield seemed much emptier.

On the sea, only Greninja remained alone.
