Chapter 91: The Strongest in the Underworld (Vongola Familia)
Bell and Hestia were shocked when the word "Evilus" came out of Reborn's mouth.
"Tsuna is... Evilus!?"
"What do you mean, Reborn!?"
Bell and Hestia had just come to Orario a few months ago, so they weren't in the city when Evilus operated in the shadows. Even so, the existence of Evilus and the events of the Dark Age seven years prior were common knowledge.
"Tsuna is the next boss candidate for a mafia called the Vongola Familia," Reborn stated.
"Is that true, Tsunayoshi!?"
"U-Um... Actually, why are you asking me?"
"For some reason, I can't tell if Reborn is lying or not..."
Normally, Hestia, as a God, should be able to see through a mortal's lies. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, she couldn't discern if Reborn's words were truth or falsehood.
"I used Evilus as an example, but the Vongola never lay a hand on innocent civilians. I just phrased it in a way you'd understand."
Evilus was an existence that mercilessly dragged in ordinary people, but the Vongola basically only dealt with those in the underworld. Reborn added that clarification to avoid any misunderstandings.
"And I am a home tutor and hitman dispatched by the 9th, the boss of the current Vongola Familia, to mold Tsuna into a respectable mafia boss."
"A hitman!? You!?"
"Wait... Then what you told Mia about being the world's strongest hitman..."
"It's the truth."
Hestia was astonished by the fact that Reborn was an actual assassin. Bell realized that what Reborn had told Mia at the Hostess of Fertility was true, and at the same time, he could only be shocked by the reality that he had been trained by the world's strongest hitman.
"Um... Are there no other successors besides Tsuna?"
"There were three others, originally... Enrico, who was the most likely candidate for the 10th generation, got shot during a turf war."
"Eek!!"
"Don't show us something so gruesome!!"
When Bell asked about the existence of other successors, Reborn pulled out a photograph of a man with a gun lying dead in a pool of blood. Seeing the picture, Bell and Hestia screamed, and Tsuna quickly tried to stop him.
"The young No. 2, Massimo, is sleeping with the fishes."
"Eek!!"
"I said you don't need to show us!!"
This time, he showed a photo of a fat man being sunk into the sea. Bell and Hestia screamed again, and Tsuna retorted at Reborn, who showed no signs of stopping.
"The treasured favorite, Federico, somehow got reduced to bones."
"GYAAAAAH!!"
"Give me a break, Reborn!!"
Furthermore, Reborn showed a photo of Federico reduced to nothing but a skeleton. Bell and Hestia shrieked at the series of excessively splatter-filled photos, prompting Tsuna to yell at him once more.
"And so, only Tsuna, who carries the blood of the Vongola Familia's founding Primo, was left."
"Ehh!?"
"That's just utterly tragic circumstances..."
Bell was shocked by Tsuna's miserable luck, and Hestia couldn't help but sympathize with him.
"But in that case... shouldn't someone more suitable just become the boss...?"
"The Vongola is a Familia that values bloodlines. With over ten thousand members under its umbrella, it's the world's strongest mafia, unparalleled in tradition and history. In other words, taking the seat of the Vongola Boss is tantamount to becoming the ruler of the underworld."
"Gasp!"
Never having imagined that the Vongola was such a massive organization, the two were so shocked they couldn't even speak.
"He's going to be the boss of such a mafia. Naturally, an ordinary person couldn't handle it."
"What do you mean by that?"
"There are two conditions to becoming the Vongola Boss. First, to inherit the Vongola bloodline. Second, to awaken Hyper Intuition, an ability inherited through the Blood of Vongola."
"Hyper Intuition?"
"It's the power to see through everything, said to have been possessed by the first boss of the Vongola Familia. Successive Vongola bosses have guided the Vongola with this Hyper Intuition."
Hyper Intuition... So that's why...
Blood of Vongola... So that's what that skill meant...
Bell realized that Tsuna seeing through Lili's transformation during their first meeting was due to his Hyper Intuition. And Hestia learned the origin of Tsuna's skill, [Blood of Vongola].
"Well, that's about the gist of us and the Vongola. I look forward to working with you from now on."
"Don't say 'look forward to working with you'!! I never agreed to this!! And what about my school!?"
"I already submitted your leave of absence for school."
"Huh!?"
Reborn pulled out a leave of absence document from Namimori High School, which Tsuna attended.
"Don't worry. Even if you don't go to school, you have me. I'll make your intellect and combat prowess top-class—in this world, that is."
"That's not the problem!! Why did you put me on a leave of absence without asking!?"
"To make you a respectable mafia boss, obviously."
"I refuse to accept that!!"
Never having thought that he would be forced to take time off school for Reborn's mission, Tsuna exploded in anger.
"U-Um... I think you should respect Tsuna's wishes a bit more..."
"You say somethin'?"
"N-No!! Nothing at all!!"
It's no use!! He already can't defy Reborn anymore!!
Bell had tried to throw out a lifeline, but the moment he heard Reborn's menacing voice, his voice cracked, and his whole body began to tremble slightly. Seeing Bell like that, Tsuna realized he was completely under Reborn's control.
"Don't worry, I'll train you too. Now that the War Game is over, you have plenty of time. I'll train you thoroughly."
"Gah!?"
"B-Bell!!?"
Seeing Reborn say that with a joyful smile, Bell vomited blood and collapsed. With his trauma dug up once again causing him to faint, Hestia let out a scream.
"Fainted from sheer joy, huh."
"As if!!"
Tsuna retorted at Reborn for saying something so completely carefree in such a situation. And so, several minutes later, Bell woke up from his trauma-induced faint, and they continued their conversation.
"I said I'd stay in this world, but rest assured, we're set up so we can return to our original world at any time."
"Come to think of it, with the War Game going on I missed the chance to ask, but how exactly did you come to this world in the first place?"
"I used this."
"Ah!! That!!"
In response to Hestia's question, Reborn pulled out a black, cube-shaped machine from his suit. Seeing it, Tsuna remembered it was the object he saw right before coming to this world.
"This thing allows for free travel between this world and ours. For some reason, this was in the town where we live. So, I looked into it and found out that it was made by the Movimento Familia."
"Eh!? The mafia made it!?"
"To be precise, a man named Dire from the Movimento Familia made it. But a year ago, he betrayed the Familia and was about to be eliminated by them. Naturally, Dire became a wanted man, fled to our country of Japan, and apparently created this device."
"I see... It's true that if you flee to another world, you'll absolutely never be pursued."
"Yeah. But his presence in Japan was discovered, and Dire was eliminated by the Familia. After that, however, for some reason, this device ended up with Tsuna."
"When I was heading home from training, this device fell on my head. Then it suddenly started glowing... and when I woke up, I was in this church."
"Most likely, Dire had temporarily hidden it inside a tree on Namimori Mountain where we were training, or a bird happened to pick it up and dropped it while carrying it," Reborn surmised, deducing why the device had come near Tsuna.
"And the impact of the fall activated it, but broke it at the same time, leaving only the device behind in our world, I assume."
"Then, Reborn, you fixed the device to come to this world?"
"Yeah. I arrived the night before you guys were attacked by the Apollo Familia. From there, I gathered information and learned about this world. Then, learning about a God named Ouranos who founded this Orario, I went to his altar."
"You met Ouranos!?"
"Yeah, I figured the founder of this Orario might know something about Tsuna's whereabouts."
"I'm surprised they let you meet him..."
Ouranos, the creator God of the city, was not an existence one could normally meet so easily. Thus, Hestia couldn't hide her surprise that Reborn had managed to see him.
"Well, I didn't think I could just walk up honestly to the Guild and ask them to let me see him. I searched for a hidden passage leading to Ouranos's altar and went to meet him. Ouranos is the most important divine figure in Orario. I figured he'd have an escape route prepared in case of emergencies. It took some time, but I managed to find the secret path and meet him. And then, I obtained information on Tsuna and permission to stay in Orario. By offering Ouranos a condition."
"A condition?"
