Part 2: What We Almost Lost
Sometimes—
Love scares you…
Not because it's weak.
But because it matters too much.
Morning After
Sunlight slipped quietly through the curtains.
Soft.
Warm.
Peaceful.
Amelia stirred first.
Still wrapped in Ethan's arms.
His chest rising steadily beneath her cheek.
For a moment—
She didn't move.
Just stayed there.
Listening to his heartbeat.
Like she needed to remind herself—
He was still here.
That she hadn't lost him.
Her fingers tightened slightly against his shirt.
"…You're thinking too much."
His voice came low.
Still half asleep.
She smiled faintly.
"…You're awake?"
"…Been awake."
A small pause.
"…Just didn't want to move."
That made her heart soften.
She lifted her head slightly—
Looking at him.
"…Me too."
The Truth They Almost Ignored
Silence settled again.
But this time—
It wasn't light.
It was thoughtful.
"…I didn't like who I became yesterday."
Ethan said quietly.
Her expression shifted.
"…You mean Kelvin?"
His jaw tightened slightly.
"…I lost control."
A pause.
"…And I meant every word I said to him."
She watched him carefully.
"…You were jealous."
"…I was angry."
"…Because you were jealous."
He didn't respond immediately.
Because she wasn't wrong.
"…I don't like the idea of someone else wanting you."
He admitted finally.
His voice lower now.
Honest.
"…Especially when they don't hide it."
Amelia's gaze softened.
She shifted slightly—
Closer.
"…I didn't realize it would go that far."
Her voice carried guilt again.
"…I thought it was harmless."
"…It wasn't."
Not harsh.
Just true.
She nodded slowly.
"…I know that now."
No More Doubt
She reached up—
Her hand resting gently on his cheek again.
The same way she did before.
But this time—
There was no fear.
Only certainty.
"…Look at me."
He did.
Immediately.
"…There's no one else."
Her voice steady.
"…There won't be anyone else."
A pause.
"…Not as long as you're here."
His eyes searched hers.
Not for doubt—
But for truth.
And he found it.
"…You sure about that?"
"…I'm sure about you."
That answer—
It settled something deeper than words.
His hand moved to hers.
Holding it there.
"…Then don't make me question it again."
"…I won't."
No hesitation.
No fear.
Just promise.
Closer Than Before
He pulled her slightly closer—
Their foreheads touching again.
Familiar.
Comforting.
"…You scared me."
He admitted quietly.
Her breath caught slightly.
"…I know."
"…Not because of him."
A pause.
"…Because I thought I might lose you."
That—
That hit deeper than anything else.
Her arms wrapped around him instantly.
Holding him tighter.
"…You won't."
Her voice soft.
Certain.
"…Not unless you push me away."
A small silence followed.
Because they both knew—
That was the truth.
A Softer Kind of Love
He kissed her again.
Not urgent.
Not desperate.
Just… sure.
And when she kissed him back—
It felt different.
Stronger.
Like something had changed between them.
Not broken—
But rebuilt.
Better.
"…Stay like this a little longer."
She whispered softly.
"…I'm not going anywhere."
And this time—
They both believed it.
End Scene — What We Almost Lost
Sometimes love needs to be tested—
Not to break it…
But to show how strong it really is.
They almost lost each other.
But instead—
They found something deeper.
Something real.
Something worth fighting for.
To be continued…
