Chapter 215 - The Weight of Blood

Part 2:The Weight of Blood

The mansion had gone quiet.

Too quiet.

Like it was holding its breath.

Waiting.

Inside — Between Life and Death

The door to the medical room stayed closed.

Locked.

Silent.

Every second that passed felt heavier.

Longer.

Harder to breathe through.

Amelia stood outside it.

Unmoving.

Her eyes fixed on the door like if she looked away—

Something would go wrong.

Her hands were clean now.

But she could still feel it.

The blood.

Warm.

Slipping through her fingers.

"…He'll be fine."

Elara's voice came softly from behind her.

Amelia didn't turn.

"…You don't know that."

Her voice was quiet.

Fragile.

Elara stepped closer.

"You're right."

A pause.

"But I believe it."

Silence.

Amelia swallowed hard.

"…I've seen this before."

Her voice shook slightly.

"I know how it ends."

Elara's gaze softened.

"…This time is different."

Finally—

Amelia turned.

Her eyes—

Red.

"…Because of him?"

A small pause.

"…Because of you."

That answer caught her off guard.

Because deep down—

She didn't believe she could save anyone.

Not anymore.

Damian — The Silence Before the Storm

Elsewhere—

Damian stood alone.

Office.

Dark.

Still.

A glass in his hand.

Untouched.

His eyes stared at nothing.

But his mind—

Far from quiet.

The gunshot.

Ethan falling.

Amelia screaming.

Elara's voice.

All of it—

Repeating.

Over and over.

His grip tightened around the glass.

Crack.

It shattered in his hand.

Blood mixed instantly.

But he didn't react.

Didn't even flinch.

"…Weak."

His voice was low.

Cold.

"…I hesitated."

And someone paid for it.

His jaw tightened.

"…That won't happen again."

The door opened.

Lucas stepped in.

He took one look at Damian's hand—

And sighed.

"You're bleeding."

No response.

"He's still in surgery."

That made Damian look up.

"…He's alive?"

"For now."

Silence.

Then—

Damian spoke.

"…Find him."

Lucas didn't ask who.

He already knew.

"It's not that simple."

Damian's eyes darkened.

"…It never is."

A pause.

"But you will."

Not a request.

A command.

Lucas exhaled slowly.

"…And when we do?"

Silence filled the room.

Heavy.

Cold.

Damian's voice dropped.

"…He doesn't leave alive."

There was no hesitation.

No doubt.

No humanity in it.

And Lucas saw it.

Clear as day.

"…Elara won't like that."

A small pause.

"…This isn't about what she likes."

And that—

That was the problem.

The Door Opens

Back in the hallway—

The door finally opened.

Amelia froze.

Elara held her breath.

The doctor stepped out.

Calm.

Professional.

"…He'll live."

Everything stopped.

Then—

Amelia's knees almost gave out.

Relief hit too fast.

Too strong.

"…Thank God…"

She whispered.

Her hands shaking again.

But this time—

Not from fear.

From release.

Elara held her gently.

"It's okay."

But even as she said it—

She knew.

This wasn't over.

Not even close.

A Quiet Promise

Damian stood at the door now.

Watching Ethan through the glass.

Alive.

Breathing.

Barely.

His expression didn't change.

Didn't soften.

But his eyes—

Colder than before.

More dangerous.

A silent promise forming.

Not spoken.

But real.

Next time…

I won't hesitate.

Far away—

Il Cane stood still.

Looking at the moon.

"…Good."

A faint smile touched his lips.

"He's choosing."

A pause.

"…And I know which side he'll pick."

Because in the end—

Every man breaks.

The only question is—

what he becomes after.

To be continued…
