Chapter 210 - The First Crack

Part 2 The First Crack

Morning came…

But the peace didn't.

The mansion was alive as always—

Soft laughter.

Footsteps.

Voices.

But beneath it all—

Something was off.

Dining Hall — A Normal That Isn't Normal

Seraphina sat at the table.

Swinging her legs happily.

"Mummy, I want pancakes!"

Elara smiled softly.

"You already have pancakes."

Seraphina gasped dramatically.

"Oh… then I want more pancakes!"

Ethan chuckled from across the table.

"Future businesswoman right there."

Amelia hid a small smile.

Everything looked… normal.

Perfect even.

But Damian—

Sat quietly.

Watching.

Not eating.

Not speaking.

Just observing.

Elara noticed immediately.

She always did.

"Damian."

His eyes shifted to her.

"You haven't touched your food."

A pause.

"I'm not hungry."

Simple.

Too simple.

Ethan raised a brow slightly.

"That's new."

Damian didn't respond.

And that—

Said more than words.

The Glitch

A glass slipped.

From Seraphina's hand.

It hit the floor—

CRASH.

And for a split second—

Everything stopped.

Damian's body reacted instantly.

Too fast.

Too sharp.

His chair scraped loudly as he stood.

Eyes cold.

Scanning.

Searching for a threat that wasn't there.

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Seraphina froze.

Her small eyes wide.

"…Daddy?"

That voice—

Soft.

Innocent.

It pulled him back.

Just slightly.

Damian blinked once.

Looking down.

The broken glass.

Nothing else.

"…It's fine."

His voice was calm again.

Too calm.

Elara watched him closely.

That wasn't normal.

That wasn't just instinct.

That was something else.

Amelia — The Trigger

Amelia flinched.

The sound—

Still echoing in her mind.

Her breathing uneven.

Her fingers tightening around the edge of the table.

Ethan noticed immediately.

"…Hey."

His voice softer now.

"Relax. It's nothing."

She shook her head slightly.

"I know… it's just…"

She didn't finish.

But he understood.

Loud sounds.

Triggers.

Without thinking—

He reached for her hand.

His fingers brushing hers lightly.

Not fully holding.

Just… there.

She stilled.

Then slowly—

She didn't pull away.

Damian Sees It All

Across the table—

Damian noticed everything.

Amelia's reaction.

Ethan's movement.

The connection.

But his focus shifted again—

Back to his own hand.

Still slightly tense.

Still ready to strike.

Even now.

His jaw tightened.

"…Control it."

A whisper.

Only for himself.

After Breakfast — The Confrontation

Elara didn't wait.

She found him again.

Balcony.

Always the same place.

"You scared her."

Damian didn't turn.

"She's fine."

"I'm not talking about Seraphina."

That made him look at her.

Slowly.

"Elara—"

"No."

She cut him off.

Firm.

"You don't get to brush this off."

A pause.

"You reacted like you were in a war zone."

Silence.

"…Maybe I still am."

Her expression hardened slightly.

"Then leave it there."

Another pause.

"This is your home. Your family."

Her voice softened—

But didn't break.

"Don't bring that part of you here."

That line.

It hit.

Because that "part" of him…

Was already here.

And he didn't know how to remove it.

"…I'm handling it."

A lie again.

She stepped closer.

Looking straight into his eyes.

"No, you're hiding it."

Silence.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

Then—

She said it.

"If you lose yourself again… I won't watch it happen."

A warning.

Not fear.

Truth.

Damian's eyes darkened slightly.

"…You won't have to."

But even he didn't believe that.

Elsewhere — The First Move

Il Cane stood on a rooftop.

City lights below him.

Alive.

Unaware.

A phone in his hand.

"…Begin."

A simple word.

But it carried weight.

Across the city—

Men moved.

Quiet.

Precise.

Targeted.

Back at the mansion—

Damian suddenly stilled.

That feeling again.

Stronger now.

His eyes lifted.

Cold.

Focused.

"…It's starting."

Elara frowned.

"What is?"

A pause.

Then—

His voice dropped.

Low.

Deadly.

"…War."

Far away—

Il Cane smiled.

"…Let's see what love does… when it's bleeding."

To be continued…
