Quote of the Chapter:

"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

Two floors above them, the scientist moved quickly through the halls, her heels striking the floor in a steady rhythm as she tapped on her tablet, already establishing contact with the designated driver users. This time, however, there seemed to be weight behind her tone, as she sounded more authoritative than when with the man.

"Ox. Mantis. I have the drivers secured. Proceed to the secondary drop point immediately. Avoid anything that could cause delays."

She didn't slow down as she turned a corner. She thought for a second and decided to give them another directive, just in case.

"However, if you see the two clones, you have permission to stop them. "

There was a brief window of silence between the 3 of them before a deep voice was heard from the other side of the tablet.

"Understood, Lady Rose." x2

After getting confirmation from both of them, Lady Rose let out a small sigh as she stepped up to a secured door. Her fingers moved quickly across the keypad, inputting a code.

(BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! CLICK!—)

With that, the door slid open with a hiss. Inside, there stood two briefcases that rested on display. She stepped forward immediately, placing both cases onto a station and linking them to the system.

A faint hum filled the room as she connected them to the satellite uplink, ensuring tracking and activation readiness.

She stared at the screens as she watched carefully that everything was perfect before she closed both cases upon completion, before quickly moving towards the exit and began to think quickly about what to do next.

"Hm… perhaps I should go one floor down," she murmured.

If she moved now, they could have a better chance of intercepting the clones. Lady Rose stepped out of the room without hesitation, both briefcases in hand as the doors slid shut behind her. Her pace increased slightly as she turned toward the stairwell instead of the elevator.

"Mantis. Ox," she said, bringing the tablet back up as she moved. "Adjust your route. I'm descending one level. We'll converge there."

"Understood," came the response.

She cut the line and kept moving. Every second mattered now.

Back on the lower floors, the two clones ran through the corridors, their footsteps echoing as they turned corner after corner, with no signs of slowing down.

#1113 kept his gaze forward for a moment before deciding not to dance around it.

"…Alright, I'm just gonna say it."

They took a turn before #1113 continued the conversation.

"After I died, I ended up in that weird space. I'm pretty sure I had no body either, and was basically just moving through a space filled with colors like I was being pulled somewhere. There were two streaks of light, and I was one of them, and you waking up at the same time as me is quite the coincidence if you weren't like me, so I'm wondering."

He glanced at him briefly.

"You were the other one, correct?"

#1110 nodded as he had nothing to hide, considering he already guessed that they were in the same boat.

"…Honestly, I thought I took some crazy drugs or something before I woke up in this body. Though it doesn't look like we got a 'lucky spawn' location, considering we have to run for our lives."

#1113 let out a short, almost disbelieving breath through his nose while they kept sprinting.

"Yeah… though calling the situation just 'unlucky' would be putting it mildly, man…by the way, we've made it this far, and I haven't even gotten your name."

Then #1110 glanced sideways mid-run.

"…Oh, right, the name's Victor, last name isn't important here, I guess."

#1113 nodded before he slowed down, stopping with Victor doing the same as #1113 raised his hand to give him a handshake with a smile on his face before saying.

"My name is Lorenzo, as you said, last names don't really matter much right now. Let's try to keep each other alive."

Victor looked at Lorenzo's smile before his hand before shaking his head.

"Let's try this again after getting some clothes on."

"Oh, uh, right, shit- my bad!"

As they continued to talk, Lorenzo suddenly stopped and grabbed Victor by the shoulder, yanking him back.

"What the hell—"

Moments later, a massive fist tore through the wall where they would have been a second later.

Concrete exploded outward as fragments blasted across the hallway, filling the air with dust and blocking both their vision, with the floor shaking from the force of the punch.

Lorenzo coughed a bit as he fanned away the dust from his face.

"Jesus Christ, what the hell was that?"

However, before Victor could respond, they both witnessed someone or something walking through the smoke.

A large figure stepped through the broken wall, its frame outlined through the smoke as a pair of glowing red eyes locked onto the pair, though to be honest, large was an understatement. He was fucking MASSIVE and looked like he was born from a lady fucking a brick wall that took steroids.

Broad shoulders stretched and tore the black and red suit wrapped around him, sleeves ripped and hanging as thick, bandaged arms flexed with each movement, and a white vest that hid the muscles on his chest, it looked ready to tear if he put enough effort into doing so. Chains hung loose at his side, clinking faintly as he stepped forward, heavy boots grinding shattered concrete beneath them.

However, right behind him, stepping through the same opening was a smaller and leaner-looking figure.

His black suit, unlike his partner's, was intact and looked perfectly tailored for him, with a white vest patterned in gold and pristine despite the surrounding destruction. A dark mask covered his face completely, leaving only those same glowing red eyes visible.

The smaller man with the mask adjusted his cuff slightly as he came to a stop beside his partner, gaze settling on Lorenzo and Victor.

"Excuse me, gentlemen, I'm afraid that this is where your little prison break ends."

He then took a step forward, one hand on his chest.

"I'd advise you to give up quietly; things may get a bit ugly on your part otherwise. After all, you never had a chance from the start."
