GEORGIA'S POV
My heart was thundering so violently against my ribs I thought it might actually break through. I was completely paralyzed, unable to drag my gaze away from his lips.
I felt like I was losing my mind. Even the simple act of swallowing felt impossible. It wasn't until Nikolaj tilted his head—clearly trying to figure out what had come over me—that the spell finally broke.
I spun away abruptly, stepping out into the downpour. The sudden, biting cold was a shock to my system, and I instinctively recoiled, bumping right back into him. I jumped as if I'd been burned. I had to resist the urge to clamp my hand over my chest to steady my racing pulse.
"Why? Did you want to kiss me?" I heard him ask. I whipped around to face him immediately.
"No! Why... why would you even say that?" I stuttered, shaking my head and doing my absolute best to play dumb.
