Chapter 21 - A Girl

The Girl Who Texted Me Before She Died

The first message came at 2:17 AM.

Unknown number.

"Don't go to school tomorrow."

I almost ignored it.

But then another message appeared.

"You die at 12:40 PM."

My chest tightened.

I typed back:

"Who is this?"

Three dots appeared instantly.

"I'm sitting behind you."

I turned around.

My room was empty.

The next morning, I didn't go to school.

At 12:39 PM, my phone buzzed again.

"You changed it."

Changed what?

I rushed to the news.

A bus accident.

Exactly at 12:40 PM.

The same route I take every day.

My hands started shaking.

If I had gone…

I would have been there.

At 2:17 AM the next night, the messages returned.

"We don't have much time."

"Who are you?" I typed.

Long pause.

Then—

"I died three days ago."

My heart nearly stopped.

"What?"

"Check the news. School rooftop incident."

I searched.

Three days ago.

A girl jumped from the rooftop of my school.

Name: Aisha Rahman.

Age: 17.

Declared dead at 2:16 AM in the hospital.

My clock read 2:17 AM.

"I don't understand," I typed.

"You're the only one who can see the glitch."

Glitch?

"Time isn't moving normally for you."

The next message terrified me.

"You're supposed to die next week."

My throat went dry.

"How do you know?"

"Because I tried to stop it. And failed."

The next few days, she guided me.

"Don't enter the lab."

"Take the left stairs."

"Don't trust the new teacher."

Every time I followed her instructions—

Something bad happened elsewhere.

An explosion avoided.

A fight prevented.

A student saved.

But each time—

Her replies became slower.

Fainter.

Like a weak signal.

On the sixth night, she finally told me the truth.

"This world resets every time you die."

I froze.

"What?"

"You don't remember. But I do."

"You've died 14 times."

My breathing stopped.

"Each time, the system rewinds seven days."

"I was the first one who noticed."

"So why are you dead?" I asked.

Long pause.

Then—

"Because I jumped."

My heart dropped.

"I broke the loop."

"That's why I can message you now."

The final night arrived.

2:17 AM.

"Tomorrow is the day."

"Can we stop it?"

"Yes."

"How?"

Her typing bubble flickered.

"You must choose."

"If you live, the loop continues."

"If you die willingly, it ends."

Silence filled my room.

"So either I die… or we're trapped forever?"

"Yes."

My chest hurt.

"Will I see you again?"

Long pause.

Then—

"If the world becomes real… maybe."

The next day at 12:39 PM, I stood on the school rooftop.

The wind was strong.

Students were shouting below.

My phone buzzed.

"Thank you."

Tears blurred my vision.

"Wait—"

But the message didn't continue.

The signal was gone.

No more texts.

No more glitch.

Just silence.

I closed my eyes—

And stepped forward.

I woke up in my classroom.

Sunlight.

Normal voices.

Normal world.

No loops.

No glitches.

Across the room—

A girl I had never seen before was staring at me.

She slowly smiled.

And whispered—

"2:17 AM."

My heart stopped.

Because I remembered.

And so did she.
