Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The Wand of Watoomb

Wong guarding strictly against Harvey wasn't without reason.

In order to bypass the rules set by the Sorcerer Supreme, this kid...

Over the years, he had used a variety of utterly despicable methods—such as crossing the sea under camouflage, substituting the fake for the genuine, confusing the public, and advancing secretly via hidden paths—to pilfer forbidden books from the library.

So now, the moment Wong saw Harvey appear in the library, his vigilance instantly shot to the maximum.

"Listen to me, there is a reason why forbidden books are strictly forbidden from being read. Once you are corrupted by the dark energies..."

Harvey had no desire to listen to grand lectures. He simply pointed his finger at the empty air ahead.

"Stupefy!"

A dim red light flew out.

He wanted to take advantage of Wong's lack of attention to execute a perfect sneak attack.

But Wong was already prepared. He reached out his hand, drew a circle, and opened a palm-sized portal, sucking Harvey's magical attack right into it.

"Trying to sneak attack again? I'm warning you, if you..."

Seeing his sneak attack fail, Harvey spread his hands, indicating he posed no threat to lower the other party's guard, while secretly continuing to cast wandless and non-verbal spells.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

"Confundo!"

"Locomotor Mortis..."

A barrage of colorful magical attacks formed a seamless net of covering fire, flying straight toward Wong.

"Damn it, this move again!"

Seeing the magical lights attacking from all directions, Wong's face instantly turned incredibly ugly.

This move was the hardest to deal with. During their usual spars, he had never been able to figure out a way to break it.

Wong planned to open a portal for a strategic retreat and come back after dodging this wave of attacks.

But a deep purple magical shield suddenly appeared, steadily protecting him within it.

At the same time, the Ancient One, dressed in monk's robes, walked out of a portal with her hands behind her back.

"Fighting is prohibited in the library."

The Ancient One's warning was clearly much more intimidating than Wong's.

Harvey stopped casting spells, not daring to continue the fight.

"My apologies, Sorcerer Supreme. My hands were just itching, and I wanted to spar with Wong."

Although this sounded like a very perfunctory excuse, the Ancient One didn't press the matter, asking with a calm expression:

"Master Harvey, your visit to Kamar-Taj this time shouldn't merely be to find someone to spar with, right?"

Harvey figured that since the Ancient One had stepped in, pulling any sneaky tricks right under her nose probably wouldn't be easy.

He might as well be direct.

"Sorcerer Supreme, I would like to borrow the Wand of Watoomb to study for a few days. As payment, I can offer a batch of healing potions that Kamar-Taj urgently needs."

Because Kamar-Taj's sorcerers have to pay a price to use mystic arts, coupled with constantly fighting dark creatures in dimensional rifts...

Getting injured became a common occurrence.

And Harvey's healing potions had excellent effects on a wide variety of physical injuries.

Therefore, over the years, Harvey had consistently traded potions for magical materials from Kamar-Taj.

Things like the corpses of dark creatures were very popular with Harvey.

He could take the corpses of these creatures from the Hell Dimension or the Dark Dimension back to the Harry Potter world and sell them at a high price.

This cross-world trade, buying low and selling high, had earned Harvey quite a lot of Galleons.

And the excellent effects of the healing potions were also highly welcomed by the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj.

So Harvey fully intended to keep this win-win trade relationship going.

Upon hearing Harvey's trade request, the Ancient One pondered for a moment and agreed directly.

But Master Wong, standing to the side, was unhappy.

"Sorcerer Supreme, are we really going to use the Wand of Watoomb as a bargaining chip in a trade?"

The Ancient One looked at Wong with a placid gaze.

"Magical artifacts are merely dead objects. As long as it is not given to a sorcerer harboring malicious intent, anyone is free to attempt studying or borrowing it."

"Besides, the compensation Master Harvey is offering is quite generous, isn't it?"

Wong shook his head, still finding it hard to comprehend.

But the Sorcerer Supreme was clearly not the type of person to value material compensation.

Perhaps the Sorcerer Supreme had her own considerations.

Wong stared at Harvey with a stern expression.

"You punk, I have to warn you."

"Do not use the Wand of Watoomb to limitlessly absorb mysterious magical energies. That is primarily energy from the Aether Dimension. Absorbing too much could cause you to fall into darkness and become the servant of an unknown entity..."

"Don't worry, I've always been very cautious about unknown risks!" Harvey waved his hand, indicating he wasn't going to casually get himself killed.

Wong stared at Harvey and said softly, "You'd better truly be cautious. I have absolutely no desire to fight a dark-corrupted version of you!"

Harvey stared straight at the side door deep inside the library, saying nonchalantly, "With the Sorcerer Supreme here, your worries are entirely superfluous."

The Ancient One also turned her gaze to the side door, speaking in a calm tone: "The Wand of Watoomb is in the storage room. You should know the way."

"Uh, of course."

This was clearly a subtle jab reminding him of the time he secretly snuck into the storage room. Luckily, Harvey had thick skin. He rubbed his hands together, acting as if it was nothing, and turned to walk toward the side door.

Wong and the Ancient One just watched Harvey walk into the storage room.

Wong still had concerns in his heart.

"Sorcerer Supreme, are we really going to let him take the Wand of Watoomb so easily? Even though it's 'borrowing', knowing that kid's personality, I don't think he's going to give it back."

The Ancient One shook her head slightly, the light of wisdom flashing in her eyes.

"The Wand of Watoomb has been kept in the storage room for so many years. If it can find a suitable master, that would also be a good thing."

Wong muttered to himself, highly displeased, "I certainly don't think that kid is suitable..."

On the other side, Harvey walked into the storage room.

Looking around, the sandalwood display racks, styled with a distinct medieval flair, were filled with a wide variety of magical artifacts.

Such as an oddly-shaped curved sword, a slender oval Ram-Headed Staff, a domineering brass battleaxe, a pair of dusty dark red gauntlets, Phantom Blades, and so on.

Harvey's gaze swept over the dazzling array of artifacts one by one.

The target of his trip, the Wand of Watoomb, was stored inside a transparent glass display case in the corner of the storage room.

Unable to wait, he stepped forward, opened the display case, and took out this legendary wand carved from precious red crystal.

When Harvey held this wand in his hand, the magic within his body began to stir restlessly, and a suppressed feeling of exhilaration spontaneously arose.

"It seems this wand actually suits me quite well," Harvey remarked with genuine feeling.

But why didn't it choose him two years ago? It made him make such a huge fool of himself in front of everyone.

Could it be... back then, it felt he wasn't worthy of it?

Harvey's thoughts were dangerous, and the Wand of Watoomb seemed to sense that its master was a narcissist.

The crystal light it had been emitting suddenly dimmed.

"Oh, you dare to disobey me?"

Harvey cast Transfiguration, using a pink bunny head to cap the demon-like pointed horns at both ends of the wand.

The art style of the originally sinister and domineering Wand of Watoomb abruptly changed.

It had now turned into a pink bunny wand radiating cute, little-girl energy.

"If Hermione held this wand and shouted 'Balala Energy, Little Magic Fairy Transformation', tsk tsk..."

Harvey already had the image in his head.

Shaking his head, he tossed those unreliable thoughts aside.

He placed the Wand of Watoomb, which was once again as obedient as his own arm, into the spatial bag in his pocket.

Having achieved his goal, Harvey was just preparing to leave the storage room.

From the corner of his eye, he suddenly caught sight of a red cloak hanging on a coat rack in the corner, and he immediately stopped in his tracks.

"Oh? Isn't this the future Doctor Strange's ultimate show-off artifact?"
