Chapter 45 - Fight with a demi giant

The high-frequency hum of compressed mana abruptly cut out, replaced by a sickening, structural snap.

Before Kairo's eyes, the massive, towering proportions of the mutated titan violently collapsed inward. The dark, pulsing veins and bloated muscle mass vanished as the entity's biology forcibly reverted. Within a millisecond, the terrifying titan was gone, replaced by a half-giant, half-human hybrid—retaining his baseline human height and facial features, but vibrating with the dense, raw physical power constraints of a colossus.

Kairo landed heavily on the shattered stone, his knees instantly buckling.

"Ahh... no," Kairo gasped, a sharp, violent convulsion ripping through his chest as he coughed up a thick splatter of dark blood.

His internal mana reservoirs had officially hit absolute zero. Without the necessary mana to sustain their structural integrity, the complex network of mud clones he had meticulously managed across the fortress began to rapidly dissolve, melting into harmless puddles of wet clay.

The remaining enemy soldiers, seeing the legendary anomaly finally stripped of his magic, began to close in with cruel, predatory sneers.

"Ahh... please, Father, hurry up," Kairo muttered, his vision blurring as he dragged his battered body backward across the dirt. "These guys are literally gonna molest me..."

High above on the royal balcony, the half-giant King looked down at the bleeding twelve-year-old and began to laugh—a deep, echoing sound of pure arrogance.

"Woah! You are a prodigy!" the King bellowed, his eyes flashing with newfound malice. "I didn't know the child of prophecy was this smart!"

Kairo tried to reply, but the words were instantly choked out by another mouthful of dark blood. His vision was wobbling violently, the edges of his sight fraying into darkness.

'Uhh... my last trump card is you, Father,' Kairo thought, his consciousness slipping. 'Just finish them off...'

Before the King could descend to finish the execution, an elite scout sprinted into the royal box, his face pale with absolute panic. "Your Majesty! Our magicians are completely prepared—they are ready to initiate the spatial displacement matrix and make this entire land go somewhere else! Even the civilians who were hidden in the bunker have joined the main army ranks to protect our territory!"

The King burst into a crazy, unhinged laughter, his sanity completely snapping under the strain of the week-long siege. He stepped off the balcony, landing with a heavy thud right in front of Kairo's broken form.

"You humiliated me a lot," the King sneered, reaching down to violently hoist Kairo up by his hair. "Now look at you!"

A heavy, brutal fist crashed directly into Kairo's jaw.

'Uhh, damn it,' Kairo thought, his brain rattling inside his skull as the blows continued to rain down. 'I can't think. I can't move... I am still just a kid after all.'

Suddenly, a massive, low-frequency tremor shook the very bedrock of the world.

The ground beneath their feet began to shift violently, tilt, and rise. The King of Arrogance froze, his fist hovering in mid-air as his eyes widened in absolute shock.

"No way... how is this possible? Is our entire land flying to the sky?!"

II. The Infiltration Vector

Miles away from the central courtyard, deep within the subterranean network, the tactical reality was shifting just as rapidly.

Leonhart was navigating the dark, twisting corridors alongside his father, Duke Lionhart. Utilizing the real-time intelligence coordinates Kairo had extracted over the past seven days, they had successfully breached the outer defensive perimeter. To guide the heavy vanguard through the folding architecture, Leonhart had relied on a remarkably intelligent local boy and his sister.

Reaching a structural junction, Leonhart placed a firm hand on the young boy's shoulder.

"You are very smart," Leonhart said, his voice serious. "Now you can go back to the secure lines."

The kid offered a sharp nod, immediately turning on his heel and sprinting back down the tunnel at a velocity that defied standard biological limitations.

His sister, left momentarily behind on her mount, let out an frustrated exhale. "Damn you! Don't flex your speed! We literally have a horse!" she screamed after him, but the boy had already outrun the animal's baseline acceleration.

"I need to protect my brother!" the boy's voice echoed back from the darkness. "Ride that horse toward me!"

Leonhart watched the boy's retreating silhouette, his tactical mind rapidly calculating the kinetic parameters of the sprint.

'Woah...' Leonhart analyzed, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck. 'That boy... he is way too fast. His baseline velocity metrics would have defeated Akio's top speed. Even Kairo couldn't beat Akio in a pure sprint. He would have—'

A catastrophic earthquake abruptly cut his train of thought off. The stone walls groaned as the entire landmass began to tilt upward, breaking away from the continental shelf.

Without a single millisecond of hesitation, Leonhart vaulted over the rocky ledge, jumping straight toward the lower tunnel complex.

Duke Lionhart, the Sovereign of the Land of Harmony, drew his massive broadsword, his gaze fixing on the glowing mana signatures in the distance. "Leonhart! Make sure you save our prince! We need to locate the enemy mages and terminate them before this entire land flies away like a fairy!"

"Understood," Leonhart barked, heading deeper into the fortress with his elite detachment while Duke Lionhart turned back to handle the high-tier sorcerers responsible for the levitation matrix.

III. The Lure and the Counter-Strike

The scene shifted violently back to the central courtyard, where the half-giant King was still systematically beating Kairo into the dirt.

But Kairo's cognitive array was not entirely dark. Accessing every remaining drop of his residual mana, he channeled his inner reserves. Even with the King literally sitting on his chest, pinning him to the cobblestones, Kairo forced his broken skeletal structure to stand straight up. The sheer mechanical force of his willpower was so absolute that despite the King's immense physical weight and leverage, the monarch could not force Kairo back down into the earth.

Breaking the hold with a sudden, explosive burst of kinetic energy, Kairo turned and began sprinting away from the royal sector.

'Well, it seems like I need to make the King lure toward me,' Kairo calculated, his internal mapping array identifying an optimal kill-zone ahead. 'If I can just position him at the coordinate node, then I can—'

Thwack. Thwack. Thwack.

Five high-velocity arrows suddenly pierced through his iron armor, embedding themselves deep into his back. The physical shock caused Kairo to stumble, his boots skidding across the dirt before he collapsed heavily onto his stomach.

'Isn't it bad to get hit from behind?' Kairo thought, a bitter, cynical smile tugging at his bloody lips. 'But anyway... it won't leave permanent scars with my healing factor. I just have to run to that specific vector so I can lure the rest of their forces.'

He started to push himself up, but a heavy shadow fell over him once more. The half-giant King was standing directly over him, his face twisted into a maniacal, predatory smile.

"No cheap tricks, princess," the King hissed, before launching another devastating barrage of punches directly into Kairo's face.

Suddenly, the King stopped his assault. His head snapped backward, his sensory array picking up a massive vibration in the air.

Emerging from the smoke of the tunnel exit at maximum velocity was Leonhart's elite army vanguard, weapons drawn and mana shields flashing.

Kairo, laying paralyzed in the dirt, let out a slow, deflated exhale. 'Uhh... now I can finally sleep peacefully. Leonhart... I leave the rest of this engagement on you.'

The King of Arrogance didn't offer a single warning. Turning away from Kairo, he launched his physical frame straight toward the advancing frontline like a ballistic missile. Reaching the first line of defense, his massive hand swung out in a brutal, horizontal arc, completely slapping a soldier's head clean off his shoulders. The man died in an instant from the devastating kinetic blowback.

Leonhart's eyes widened as he witnessed the raw casualty rate. 'Kairo, you complete monster... you were genuinely handling this entity all alone?'

But the Prince of Harmony wasn't completely out of the fight. Crawling through the dirt, Kairo dragged his sword forward. With a final, desperate surge of physical strength, he drove the blade straight into the King's leg tendons, completely disrupting his balance parameters.

"Now! Attack!" Leonhart roared.

With the King's mobility temporarily compromised by Kairo's low-tier strike, Leonhart and his closest knights swarmed the giant, while the remaining army units deployed their shields to lock down the enemy archers and neutralize the civilian reinforcements from the bunkers. The final, chaotic civil war for the realm had officially begun.

An absolute, earth-shaking roar erupted across the chaotic courtyard as Leonhart's elite guards threw themselves into the meat grinder, desperately trying to keep the half-giant King anchored to a single tactical vector.

Seizing the momentary distraction, Leonhart sprinted through the crossfire, hooked his arms beneath Kairo's broken torso, and forcefully hoisted the bleeding child up from the dirt.

Suddenly, a sharp, whistling gust tore through the heavy smoke grid. Wind—Kairo's loyal steed—materialized out of the debris on pure instinct. Leonhart vaulted onto the horse in a single, fluid motion, pulling Kairo's limp body up ahead of him. Behind them, Leonhart's own personal warhorse let out an audibly annoyed snort at being temporarily cast aside. Leonhart blew a sharp, authoritative whistle; his mount instantly fell into line, trailing tight behind them as an automated secondary asset.

The two allies were finally reunited, but Kairo's structural state was critical. Due to his absolutely depleted mana pools, his advanced passive cell regeneration had entirely stalled out.

"Kairo! Our soldiers don't utilize standard mana parameters," Leonhart barked over the deafening din of clashing steel. "Forcefully extract mine right now and initiate your internal cell restoration!"

Kairo didn't waste a single millisecond on hesitation or moral dilemmas. Reaching inward, he tapped directly into Leonhart's core pathways, siphoning a steady stream of raw energy into his own fractured channels. The influx ignited his dormant healing factor, instantly stabilizing his wobbly vision. But as his processing speed returned, his tactical array flagged a massive, high-velocity kinetic threat closing in fast.

"Leonhart! Mount your own horse right now!" Kairo screamed. Channeling every single ounce of his newly restored physical leverage, he violently shoved Leonhart backward off the saddle. "That King is actively hunting me down! He wants immediate revenge for the facial wounds I inflicted!"

Leonhart hit the saddle of his trailing horse just as a massive shadow fell over their position. Looking back, the half-giant King smiled maniacally, his eyes locked onto Kairo's small frame with absolute, singular focus.

"Yeah... I really have to!" the King bellowed, his voice vibrating with unhinged malice.

Wind instantly went into absolute mania mode. The stallion sprinted at terminal velocity, its hooves a blur against the stones as it twisted and pivoted through the debris, barely dodging a succession of devastating ground-slam attacks from the King of Arrogance.

Behind the chasing monster, the elite guards desperately tried to close the gap. "Damn it!" the captain roared in frustration. "He didn't even attack our frontline! He baited our entire defensive line just to clear a direct vector toward the prince!"

But the guards were completely locked down. A massive wave of rioting civilians from the bunkers and surviving local soldiers swarmed the sector, intentionally distracting the elite guards and preventing them from providing any tactical assistance.

Full-speed horse hooves clattered against the cobblestones as Kairo and Leonhart rode parallel at maximum acceleration, the towering entity chasing them like a runaway train.

Glancing over at his ally through the flying gravel, Kairo let out a strained, breathless rasp. "Isn't this... a bit nostalgic, Leonhart?"

Leonhart's face twisted in sheer disbelief. "Uhh! How could you even make a joke in this literal situation?!"

The Sovereign's Direct Entry

Leonhart kept his eyes locked on the pursuit parameters. The King of Arrogance was entirely hyper-concentrated on Kairo, his tunnel vision completely blinding him to any external variables.

Which was precisely what King Ariston was waiting for.

With a sudden, swift motion that defied the baseline velocity limits of human biology, King Ariston materialized from the smoke grid. Moving like a localized thunderbolt, Ariston planted his feet and unleashed a devastating, unmitigated straight punch directly into the King of Arrogance's gut.

The sheer, raw mechanical force of the blow blasted the oxygen from the giant's lungs. The half-giant King's eyes rolled back as his massive frame was launched entirely off course, hurtling through the air sideways—straight toward Kairo's horse.

"Clear the vector!" Kairo alerted, pulling Wind's reins hard to the left.

The giant's body crashed into the cobblestones exactly where they had been a millisecond prior, skidding through the dirt in a heap. Kairo's jaw dropped, a profound sense of shock completely scrambling his cognitive array as he looked from the fallen monster up to the figure standing in the center of the clearing.

King Ariston offered a calm, unbothered smile, adjusting his gauntlets as if he hadn't just bypassed a colossus's entire defensive grid with pure muscle.

"Sorry if I am late, son," King Ariston said, his voice echoing with absolute authority across the ruined courtyard. "But could you do me a small favor... and kill that person with your own hands?"

Kairo and Leonhart remained completely paralyzed with awe, their minds unable to process the sheer baseline power scaling of the sovereign. Without relying on complex spell matrices or high-tier magical attributes, King Ariston had utterly dominated the mutated monster using nothing but raw, unadulterated physical strength.
