The feelings that he felt were simply indescribable, it almost felt as if he was falling faster and faster down an endless tunnel, unable to stop or slow down, and a searing pain raced through his body when it felt as if he was being forcefully pulled at the wall of this tunnel, however the subsided after a minute, and the falling feeling kept going, and going, and going until..
"Ow! God!" Emilio cried out in pain as he felt himself hit solid ground, right on his left arm; it felt as if he fell off the third floor of a building. However, as he opened his eyes, slowly blinking; he saw... Grass? Trees?... Wait what?
He pushed himself up slightly, sitting on the ground but not standing up; he was in a forest, right next to a... Pine tree? The sight was confusing, one moment he was trying to give a transfer student her school ID back; and now it looked like he's been sent to... another world?
Fear and Quiet excitement welled up inside him. He always watched anime, read manga and webnovels, and saw movies where characters ended up in another world; never thinking this could happen to him.
Emilio pushed himself up, the pain had all but gone away, feeling more like a dull ache in his arm, and upon looking around; it seemed like a regular forest. There were trees, animal sounds, and bugs flying about as well. It all looked pretty normal.
However, using Isekai logic from stuff that he'd seen; if this was indeed another world then there's probably magic and monsters here in this forest
But as he stayed and looked around, there was absolutely nothing in terms of creatures, which was a bit strange; but sounds of birds could be heard in the distance. Then he heard what sounded like whispers coming from nearby, it could be a group of people who maybe could help... or a group of people looking to curbstomp a passing traveler into the ground.
However, curiosity got the better of him, as he snuck over, looking out onto the source of the voices; only to be met with the sight of short greenish little creatures, picking apart what looks like.. A human skeleton.
Emilio could infer what they were by their appearance. 'Goblins' He thought with nervousness and a hint of wonder
They were seemingly bickering over the corpse of whoever this was. One of them grabbed the worn-down satchel of the corpse and began rummaging through it, and they spilled out 4 gold looking coins, an old piece of paper, and a red vial of liquid, but the goblins were only interested in the Coins, as the one that poured the bag out stuffed the coins into its small pouch
This was a good chance for a combat encounter; however last time he checked, Emilio was still a human and not some sort of wizard, knight, or fighter. Sure, maybe he could try to fight them, but in his mind, it could go one of two ways, either he is able to beat them easily if he catches them off guard, or they're level 20 goblins and he gets torn to pieces... wait...
That thought literally just crossed his mind, does he have a leveling system or something now that he's in this world? It could potentially help if he did, because maybe it could tell him what level the goblins are or what kind of skills he has, so he backed off for a minute; stepping behind a tree about 20 feet away.
Then in his mind, he thought with a smile 'System menu'... Nothing happened.
'Ok, so maybe-' he thought and then tried moving his hand in a swiping down motion in front of him, as if a video game menu, nothing still. The problem was: he assumed there was some sort of overarching system in the first place, so he tried and tried again, saying it differently, doing different hand motions, or even checking his pockets for a status card or something... nothing had worked.
Emilio was getting more frustrated by the minute, as he had absolutely no way to conjure the "system" he believed may exist, but then his thoughts landed on a possibility .. What if he's not actually supposed to be here? And the "System" is only provided by the King or God who summoned them?
That might mean for the time being, he's utterly screwed when it comes to fighting monsters, but maybe; as he began to think more about this situation, he could find a smarter way to deal with this
So, he brainstormed a way to get the goblins away from the corpse to potentially see what's got them all excited about it, and then upon seeing a small rock nearby; he got an idea... maybe he could distract the goblins by throwing a rock in the bushes adjacent to them, and he could sneak up and check if there's anything on that corpse that could be worth stealing.
With the simple plan in mind, he looked around for a rock big enough to cause a good distraction, something not too small, or they won't hear it, or too large that it would just fall short. Then he found one, a good size that's not too heavy and not too small. So, he headed back over to where the goblins were, but that's when he saw a new problem arose... they were gone.
As he looked around, wondering if they sensed him or saw a sneak attack coming. Suddenly, WHAM. Emilio tumbled out of the bushes forward and landed on his side, as he rolled on the ground from what had just hit him. It felt almost as if he had been struck by an object on his side, and as he looked to where he was; he saw all 3 goblins standing there, grinning at him with their grotesque faces.
Emilio quickly stumbled to his feet and backed away, these things were dangerous and real; as if approaching cornered prey, ready to kill. They inched closer and closer as Emilio backed up, which led him to hitting the back of a tree unintentionally, making the lead goblin smirk at his misfortune
Then the goblin with the club squatted for a second, then jumped at Emilio, planning to end this confrontation quickly, but Emillio put his arms above his head and quickly (and unintentionally) blocked the strike, but it wasn't over as the other two goblins began hitting him with smaller sticks from the sides, this really did hurt; it also felt like being ganked in a video game, and it pissed him off a good amount inside.
"Stop... stop" He choked out weakly as they kept attacking, then.. "I SAID STOP!!" he yelled out, and with a burst of strength he kicked out the legs of the front goblin and wrestled the club from his hands and then to the goblin on his left he hit the goblin square in the head, knocking it down and it... vanished almost like embers within seconds. However, he didn't think about that right now.
From there he stood up and punted the other goblin to his right into a tree with good kick and it burned away too, and with the last goblin he raised the club to bring it down... but subconsciously he couldn't do it, he had never hurt or killed something this big before, only a few bugs like ants or cockroaches, and even a mouse that scampered around his house that got caught in a trap, but never something half as tall as himself.
However, that moment of hesitation costed him dearly. As the goblin reached behind its back, then suddenly it lunged at him; and stabbed him in the stomach with what looked like a sharpened bone knife. Emilio choked on his breath as it happened. The searing pain raced through his midsection, but it cleared his mind enough to bring down the club on reflex, hitting the leader directly on its head, and making it finally disappear.
Strangely as well, the club in his hands also disappeared when the leader did too (and unfortunately so did the coins in its pouch) but Emilio couldn't focus on that, because the bone knife did as well..
Emilio collapsed to the ground; writhing in near agony as the blood began pooling out of his stomach, as he could only think about how this Isekai adventure was off to a Terrible start.
