Chapter 2 - Ch 2: The Start of a New Life

It has been ten years since I was reincarnated into this world. When I first arrived, I couldn't do anything for myself; I was just a newborn. My father, Demios Oyasit—the current Patriarch of the Oyasit clan—and my mother, Angelina, the Matriarch, assigned the most trusted and qualified maid of our clan to be my permanent nanny.

Her name is Silva Doomblade. She is a beautiful woman, a one-in-a-million gem with silver-white hair and blue eyes as clear as crystal. She is a prodigy, excellent in both combat and etiquette. She has raised me for ten years now, and she feels like a big sister to me.

At the age of six, I requested that my father let me visit our family's secret library. From those books, I learned that magic exists in this world. There are different species—even legendary dragons—and above all, a power source in nature called "Mana." It is the lifeblood of this world.

I also learned that the Oyasit clan I was born into is the wealthiest of all time, but our bloodline carries a curse: no man of the Oyasit clan can cultivate past Tier 1. While every human has the potential to feel mana, their mastery is ranked from Tier 1 to the legendary Tier 10. Those who reach Tier 9 are called Demigods, and beyond that lies the boundary of the Gods—a realm no one has crossed since the Ancient Era.

There are many unknown books I still can't read because of my limited knowledge of this world's language, but Silva has been teaching me. I hope that soon, I can learn everything.

Suddenly, the library door is kicked open. Silva marches in. "Young Master Tabib! What are you doing sitting here reading books all day long? It's time for sword practice. Come here!"

She grabs me by my collar and drags me toward the training hall. Silva is a peak Tier 7 swordsman from the Doomblade house, the second strongest sword clan. Meanwhile, I—who can't even feel mana—have to fight her every day. She beats me until I can't even stand.

"Young Master, let's start! Hushhhhh!"

She lunges at me. Thud! Our swords clash.

"Young Master, try to reflect my attack!"

"Silva, it's not as easy as you say!" I grunt. She pushes a little harder, and I am sent flying across the training hall.

She rushes over to me, concerned. "Young Master, are you okay?"

"Ahhh... Silva, can you go a little easy on me?"

"Sorry, it is the Patriarch's order. But that is enough for today. Prepare for your bath."

"Okay. Oh, also... the Patriarch has ordered you to meet him at his office."

"I'll visit him after my bath," I reply.

A few minutes later, I knock on the heavy office door. Knock, knock. "Father, may I come in?"

"Oh, Tabib. Come in, son."

I open the gate and enter. My father, Demios Oyasit, is known as "The Mind Sword." He has no magical power and is stuck at Tier 1 because of the curse, but his mind is as sharp as a blade. Our family controls almost 50 percent of the world's wealth; because we couldn't rise in power, we rose in riches.

"The reason I called you," he says solemnly, "is because there are only two years left until your Awakening Ceremony. Be prepared, son. You are our only hope. You can leave now—go meet your mother in the garden."

"Okay, father. I shall take my leave."

I head out to find my mother, Angelina Oyasit. She is precious to me—a Tier 8 Mage from the Quolavis clan, the strongest magic bloodline in existence. Despite having nine children, she loves me the most.

Knock, knock. "Mother? Are you there?"

"Tabib! Come in, sit here on my lap. I have a story for you." She smiles warmly. "Once upon a time, there was the founder of the Tabib clan. He lived during the Era of the Gods. Myth says he rose to the realm of the Gods himself and became—"

"Ahh, Mom, no more... I'm sleepy."

"Then sleep, son. No one shall disturb you."

My vision blurs and I drift off.

"Oh, how cute my son looks when he sleeps," she whispers, her voice trailing off. "My son... I hope you can live up to our expectations. The only hope of the Oyasit clan."
