Chapter 172: God's Wrath! Instant Kill of a Semi Special Grade

"Die."

Yami's dark red eyes erupted with a light more blinding than the scorching sun.

A terrifying sword intent spread from him.

The thick poisonous miasma around the ruined shrine seemed to meet its natural enemy. It shrank back at once, retreating wildly from the heat pouring out of Shiranui.

"Roar!"

The mutated Earth Deity Cursed Spirit let out a shrill roar.

Escape.

It had to escape.

That was the only thought left in its mind.

But as a Semi Special Grade Cursed Spirit, its instincts told it the truth with painful clarity.

Under this killing intent, which had locked onto its very soul, there was nowhere to run.

If it could not escape, then it could only fight to the death.

Rumble!

The entire ruined shrine shook violently.

The earth cracked apart, and countless thick trees were uprooted around it.

The mutated Earth Deity Cursed Spirit squeezed out every last bit of Cursed Energy, resentment, poison, and malice inside its body.

Its enormous form, covered in tumors and bone spurs, twisted madly.

Countless human faces appeared across its surface. They belonged to the villagers it had devoured over the years, each one wailing with a sound that made the scalp go numb.

"Die…"

Its twisted mouth opened.

"Die together…"

A harsh grinding sound echoed from deep within its body.

The mutated Earth Deity opened its bloody mouth wide, like an abyss trying to swallow the sky.

The surrounding light seemed to dim.

A black Cursed Energy sphere several meters wide began condensing in its mouth, so dense that destructive waves spread from its surface.

This was the final blow of a Semi Special Grade Cursed Spirit.

It was burning its core.

Betting its life.

If that attack detonated, not only the mountain, but even the forest several kilometers around it would be flattened and turned into a dead zone.

"Yami sensei! Dodge!"

Kento Nanami, lying in a pool of blood and barely able to breathe through the pain, roared until his eyes were bloodshot.

No matter how fast Yami was, at this distance, it was impossible to retreat unharmed.

But facing that world destroying attack, Yami did not step back.

Not even half a step.

He only raised the pitch black Shiranui in his hand.

Under the extreme vision of Transparent World, the violent Cursed Energy sphere and the mutated Earth Deity's massive body became transparent in Yami's eyes.

Deep within that huge body, a black core was beating frantically.

The death point.

"Any filth that tries to trample over life…"

Yami lowered his body slightly.

His left foot stomped against the cracked stone beneath him.

Crack!

The hard rock instantly turned to powder.

"Should burn to ash."

Hum.

Yami's breathing rhythm changed.

The air in his lungs compressed to an extreme degree, then flowed through his entire body at a special frequency.

The flame shaped Demon Slayer Mark on the left side of his forehead erupted with a dazzling red light.

"Sun Breathing, Sixth Form."

At that moment, Yami's body seemed to merge with the blade in his hand.

He became a dark red sun cutting through the darkness.

"Burning Bones, Summer Sun."

Boom!

There was no elaborate Cursed Technique chant.

No hand sign.

Only a single ultimate slash.

A spiral of flame, born from the resonance of pure will and Breathing Technique, rose into the sky as his blade cut forward.

The instant that flame slash appeared, the temperature around the shrine soared to a terrifying degree.

Even the air burned and twisted.

The next second, the dark red flame slash collided with the pitch black Cursed Energy sphere in midair.

It was not a clash.

It was one sided crushing.

Sizzle.

The Cursed Energy sphere, condensed from all the power of a Semi Special Grade Cursed Spirit, met Burning Bones, Summer Sun like a drop of water falling into a red hot iron pan.

It failed to last even half a second.

Under that extreme heat, it evaporated completely.

"Awooo!"

The dark red sun continued forward without losing force.

After piercing through the Cursed Energy sphere, it struck the mutated Earth Deity's enormous body.

A shrill scream tore through the mountain forest.

Its mountain like form was wrapped in flames and began melting at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Those flames did not only burn its outer shell.

They followed its Cursed Energy circuits and burned its soul.

"Save…"

The distorted faces covering the Cursed Spirit's surface began to change.

The moment the flames touched them, the agony in their expressions faded.

One by one, they showed smiles of relief.

Then they dissolved into tiny points of light and disappeared.

Within a few breaths, the Semi Special Grade Cursed Spirit, which had boasted monstrous regenerative ability, vanished completely.

Not even a fingernail sized fragment remained.

Only nothingness was left.

A soft breeze passed through the ruins.

The poisonous miasma in the sky scattered.

The sickening cold faded with it.

The ruined shrine, once buried beneath endless shadow, finally welcomed the evening light again.

Golden sunlight spilled across the devastated earth.

It also fell upon the young man standing with his back to the two students, his long blade lowered at his side.

"Saved…"

Yu Haibara stared blankly at the scene.

The broken half of his sword slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.

His eyes, which had already accepted death, were now filled with shock and worship that words could not describe.

One slash.

It had taken only one slash.

That Semi Special Grade monster that had driven them into a corner and drowned them in despair had been erased just like that.

What kind of godlike strength was this?

Nanami's mouth opened slightly.

For a moment, even the terrible pain from his broken ribs seemed to disappear.

He stared at Yami's back, lengthened by the setting sun.

The cold wall in his heart, the belief that the Jujutsu World held only despair, collapsed completely.

A crisp sound rang out.

Yami held the sword in reverse grip and slowly sheathed Shiranui.

Clang.

With the final sound of the blade returning to its scabbard, the overwhelming pressure that had reached its peak finally dissipated.

But the moment the dust settled and all danger seemed to have passed, Yami's body trembled violently.

"Pfft."

A large mouthful of dark red blood burst from his mouth without warning, staining the scorched earth in front of him.

His face turned paper white.

The hand holding the scabbard twitched uncontrollably.

Too reckless.

Two hundred kilometers at full speed.

To arrive before death fell, he had forcibly activated the Demon Slayer Mark and sprinted the entire way with supersonic Thunder Breathing, Thunderclap and Flash, Godspeed.

The burden on his body had already reached a horrifying level.

The system breakthrough to 46 percent had given him a slight recovery, but after unleashing Burning Bones, Summer Sun, that final trace of strength had been emptied.

Every inch of muscle had reached the verge of rupture.

His organs felt like they were burning.

His vision began to spin.

The sound of wind in his ears grew farther and farther away.

Yami felt his consciousness sink rapidly into darkness.

His legs weakened.

His body lost support.

He fell forward.

"Yami sensei!"

Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara, who had still been immersed in shock, cried out in terror at the same time.

Just as Yami was about to hit the ground, two battered, blood soaked figures rushed forward with strength that exceeded their limits.

Bang.

Bang.

Two pairs of trembling but firm hands caught his falling body from the left and right.

Kento Nanami.

Yu Haibara.

The two boys who should not have even been able to stand dragged their broken bones and bleeding wounds forward, using their own bodies to support the man who had fallen after saving them.

Nanami gritted his teeth and used his unbroken right shoulder to hold up Yami's left side.

Haibara wrapped his unpierced right arm tightly around Yami's waist, using every bit of strength he had left.

Three people.

One older, two younger.

Covered in blood, they huddled together in the ruined shrine, miserable and unsteady.

But beneath the blood colored sunset, their figures overlapped, giving off a warmth even hotter than the flames from moments before.

"Don't sleep, Yami sensei…"

Haibara's voice was thick with tears.

They fell onto Yami's torn uniform as he called out desperately, trying to warm Yami's cooling body with his own.

"You're the strongest…"

His voice broke.

"You promised to take us back for barbecue…"

Nanami said nothing.

He only pressed his lips into a tight line and stared at the unconscious man in his arms.

In his eyes, the light that had nearly died had reignited.

He had never thought that in this rotten Jujutsu World, where lives were treated like weeds and the higher ups regarded low ranked sorcerers as disposable tools, there would truly be someone willing to disobey orders to save two insignificant first year students.

Someone willing to risk his own life.

It made Kento Nanami's heart, which had almost chosen numbness and avoidance, boil again.

"This rotten place…"

Nanami whispered.

A ruthlessness and determination he had never shown before flashed in his eyes.

"Can't be allowed to stay like this."

The sunset shone quietly over the ruins like blood.

The crisis had ended.

But the despicable murder arranged by the higher ups through falsified intelligence had only begun its reckoning.

Yami's blood.

The tears of the two boys.

This ruined shrine that had nearly swallowed two young lives.

All of it would become the first spark to ignite a revolution across the entire Jujutsu World.
