Hundreds of people remained kneeling across the massive hangar, their eyes fixed on Samantha with devotion. There was no fear on their faces anymore. No hesitation.
That only made the scene more disturbing.
Samantha slowly released Lucien's collar.
"...Get up."
Lucien obeyed immediately.
"So this is everyone?" she asked.
"No," Lucien answered. "The station houses approximately twenty three thousand personnel. The remainder are maintaining essential systems, guarding critical sectors, or overseeing life support. Every one of them now recognizes you as their highest authority."
The words felt wrong.
Not because she doubted them.
Because they were true.
She looked around the hangar.
Scientists.
Engineers.
Pilots.
Soldiers.
Families.
Children.
None of them looked like prisoners who was worshiping her against there will.
That made it worse.
