Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - A True Bond

** Donovan POV **

The air in the bedroom had shifted. After his admission of his failure to Keira, Donovan had felt something form within him. It was something deep, a low hum that vibrated through him. It wasn't a thought, it was a command.

Donovan initially ignored it and began to explain the traditions and her role in the pack when he could no longer ignore it. He looked into her eyes and saw that she, too, recognized what was happening.

"Keira," Donovan's voice was low. He leaned forward, brushing his lips against hers. "By my mate. My Luna."

"Yes," was her answer.

Donovan wasn't thinking anymore. The pull of the bond, the urge to claim his mate, had taken over any rational thinking. The pull intensified; to Donovan, there was only her.

With Keira tightly secured around him, he led her to the bed, laying her back against the sheets. Donovan climbed over her; instinct taking over. He claimed her mouth, and then his lips trailed down her neck, tasting her, scenting her, affirming the powerful connection between them.

Clothes were shredded as the pull pulsated. This time, neither Nolan nor Sabelina interfered. It was just Donovan and Keira. Donovan had never experienced anything like it, not even when Nolan had taken over the first time. Not even in his wildest, most primal dreams had he imagined a mating call that resonated so deeply.

When he finally lowered himself into her, the world narrowed to the feel of her skin against his. Her scent was all he could think about. A low groan rumbled in his chest, and Keira arched into him. As he found a rhythm, their bodies moved as one.

As they neared the peak, the intensity was almost unbearable. Donovan's head dipped. His teeth slowly elongated. They found the sensitive skin of her shoulder as he released inside of her. At the same time, he felt the pressure on his shoulder as both he and Keira bit down, sealing their bond between them. A shared cry escaped their lips as Nolan and Sabelina acknowledged their union as well.

The pull didn't fade, however. Donovan had never known such an all-consuming desire, a need so profound it erased everything but Keira. He moved with a primal urgency, utterly possessed by the pull of their bond. Keira's soft pants turned into moans at Donovan's urgent thrusts. Every touch, every kiss, every intimate joining only deepened the bond between them.

As the moon cast long shadows through the window, Donovan was slick with sweat, every muscle aching in satisfaction. He emptied himself into her one last time, a guttural groan ripping from his throat as Keira's hips bucked beneath him, her soft cries the sweetest music he'd ever heard. A final wave of release had left him utterly spent.

Keira was panting beneath him, her body spent, her fingers digging into his back, her hips still subtly twitching with the echoes of their shared intensity. Donovan collapsed, panting, his forehead resting against hers. Her eyes, half-lidded and dilated, met his. He pressed a lingering kiss to her lips, tasting the salt and sweetness of their shared pleasure, before slowly lowering himself to her chest, listening to the frantic beat of her heart beneath his ear.

The relentless pull he had felt had begun to calm down. Slowly and reluctantly, he eased out of her, gathering her close. Her limbs were heavy against his, her head nestling into the hollow of his shoulder.

'Well done,' Nolan whispered. 'Now she's truly ours.'

Donovan wanted to agree, but sleep claimed him almost immediately.

As Donovan slept, a shift occurred within him. The bond with Keira, delicate and fragile, solidified into an unbreakable bond, humming with an unprecedented power. But it wasn't just their personal connection that was changing. Donovan felt it in the pack as well, a low pulse that traveled through his very being.

Before, the pack bond had been a comforting, constant presence. Now, after marking, it vibrated with a new strength, a fierce unity.

When Donovan awoke, things felt different. Nolan was growling deep within him, a hum that vibrated through his bones. But it wasn't just Nolan. He glanced down at Keira, who was still curled against him, and felt a true belonging when he looked at her. Something that had even entered his soul.

The bond to Keira felt different now, not just stronger, but louder. It hummed with a primal energy, a deep-seated knowing that transcended words or conscious thought. Their wolves, Nolan and Sabelina, had done more than just mark one another physically. In that explosive, all-consuming day of claiming, their very essences had intertwined. It was as if a missing piece of his soul had found its way home, clicking into place with Keira's. He could feel her emotions, a soft echo in his own heart, and a primal urge to protect and cherish her that was so fierce it made his teeth ache.

This experience was truly different than the first bond that had formed between Nolan and Sabelina.

And the pack. That was the most astonishing part. The existing bonds he shared with his pack members, once strong and unwavering, now vibrated with a new power, a heightened clarity. It was like tuning a radio to a perfect frequency; he could sense their locations, their general well-being, even subtle shifts in their moods, not just as abstract feelings, but as a tangible hum in his blood.

Their individual strengths felt amplified, their collective power a tangible force that settled around them, a protective shroud woven from their interconnectedness. This wasn't just a mating; it was an anchoring, a centering that had solidified not just his world with Keira, but the very foundation of their pack. The mating call, that intense, unyielding pull, had done more than he could have ever imagined.

This was what was missing. Everyone always spoke about the pull to mate, but he hadn't felt what everyone else felt, mainly because he thought mating to Keira was his duty. Not because he actually wanted to.

'I wonder what changed?' Donovan thought, tracing Keira's features with his eyes.

'You realized you actually need her,' Nolan interjected. 'You probably noticed that you like her more than you thought. That just maybe the talk to Marcus helped you clear your mind?'

Donovan had to admit that was probably it.

Sensing that Marcus needed to speak to him, Donovan reached out to him. The connection was seamless. "Marcus, what do you need?"

"Alpha, aren't you busy?" Marcus asked, hesitantly.

"Hmmm, we're resting," Donovan assured him. "What do you want?"

"The construction will start up again by the end of the week," Marcus replied.

"That's good," Donovan said. The bond told him that Marcus wanted to tell him something more. "Was there anything else?"

"Some of the pack members want to throw a small part for the Luna," Marcus continued. "They want to meet her properly."

"That's a good idea," Donovan agreed. "We'll have to figure out-"

"The pack has already started planning," Marcus interrupted.

Donovan shook his head. "Fine as long as they don't overboard. I don't know if Keira likes surprises."

"Yes, Alpha. Best of luck to you!"

Donovan's eyebrows furrowed. What does he mean by good luck?

Nolan shook his head at him. Amateur.

Donovan shook his head and closed his eyes. He needed a bit more sleep.
