And for the first time since I woke up this morning, I actually had a minute alone, to myself.
How did everything go from being so amazing and smooth to something setting my ceiling fan on fire and having it spread through my entire life.

Just as things started to go smooth.
I looked over at the small girl asleep in my bed.
The doom patrol leader brought her to me. An unannounced guest. Another rule violation. Another piece of evidence against me.
I was trying so hard to remain positive. To keep a good face. But now that I'm alone. The mask I carefully constructed was cracking.
I wanted to cry.
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to figure out and murder whoever was fucking with me right now.
I worked so hard to get here, and I'm not about to let some asshat with a vendetta against me take away everything I've built.
I didn't crawl out of the mud just to drown in someone else's pettiness.
