Chapter 30 - THE GIFT

The discovery of the cave changed something between us.

Not the love—that was always there, steady and deep. But the knowing. The certainty that we were meant to be together, not just by chance but by destiny.

Kael was different in the days that followed. Softer. More reverent. He looked at me like I was sacred.

I felt it too. A deepening of the bond, a sense of rightness that went beyond words.

Lia noticed.

"You're glowing," she said one afternoon.

"I'm what?"

"Glowing. Like—" She searched for words. "Like you're exactly where you're supposed to be."

I thought about the cave. About the paintings. About the certainty that had settled in my bones.

"I am," I said. "Exactly where I'm supposed to be."

---

That night, Kael came home with news.

"Sera's pack is throwing a gathering. A celebration of the alliance. They want us there."

"Us?"

"You and me. As representatives of Bloodmoon." He pulled me close. "A whole weekend away. Just us."

I raised an eyebrow. "Just us?"

"Pack duties during the day." His eyes darkened. "But at night—"

"At night?"

He kissed me. "At night, you're mine."

---

The journey took two days.

We traveled with a small escort—Jax and a few others—but spent most of the time alone. Riding side by side. Camping under the stars. Making love in the wilderness.

"Could get used to this," I said one night, tangled in furs.

"Used to what?"

"Just us. No pack. No duties." I traced his chest. "Not that I don't love them. But this—"

"Peace?"

"Peace. And you."

He kissed me. "You have me. Always."

---

Sera's territory was beautiful.

Mountains and forests and rivers. Her pack was smaller than ours but fierce, welcoming. They greeted us with warmth and respect.

Sera herself met us at the border.

"Alpha Kael. Luna Elena." She inclined her head. "Welcome."

"Thank you for having us." Kael's hand found my lower back. "Your territory is stunning."

"It's home." She smiled. "Come. The celebration starts at moonrise."

---

The celebration was everything Sera had promised.

Food. Drink. Music. Dancing. Wolves from a dozen packs mingling, laughing, forging bonds. I was pulled into conversations, dances, toasts.

Kael watched from across the clearing, pride in his eyes.

Through the bond, I felt his love. His desire. His impatience for the night to come.

Soon, I sent.

Not soon enough.

I laughed. Danced harder.

---

When the moon was high, Sera called for silence.

"We gather tonight to celebrate alliances. To honor bonds. To remember that we're stronger together than apart." She looked at us. "And to witness something special."

I felt Kael's surprise through the bond. He hadn't known about this.

Sera continued. "The Moon has blessed us with a rare gift. A human who became wolf. A mate who became Luna. Elena Stone."

The crowd murmured.

"Tonight, we honor her. Not just as Kael's mate, but as one of us. Truly one of us."

She gestured. An elder stepped forward with a small bowl of paint.

"Elena." Sera faced me. "If you're willing, we'll give you the mark of the pack. Not just Bloodmoon—all of us. A symbol that you belong to all wolves."

I looked at Kael. Through the bond, I felt his support. His love. His pride.

"Yes," I said. "I'm willing."

---

The elder painted symbols on my skin.

Ancient symbols. Marks of belonging. When he finished, he spoke words in the old language. I didn't understand them, but I felt them.

Power. Connection. Belonging.

The pack howled.

All of them. Every wolf in the clearing, voices raised to the moon. The sound vibrated through me, through the bond, through everything.

Kael stepped forward. Took my face in his hands.

"My Luna," he whispered. "My mate. My everything."

"Yours."

He kissed me. The pack howled louder.

---

Later, in our tent, he worshipped me.

Slow and reverent. Kissing every painted symbol. Tracing every line.

"You're mine," he breathed. "Not just by bond. By blood now. By pack. By everything."

"I know." I pulled him closer. "And you're mine."

"Always."

He entered me slowly. Deeply. The bond blazed.

We moved together, the celebration continuing outside, but we were in our own world. Connected. Complete.

When we came, it was together.

Afterward, he held me close.

"I love you, Elena Stone."

"I love you too, Kael Stone. Forever."

"Forever."
