Byeol's Dimension, Rest Room
Still within Byeol's dimension, Haneul remained absorbed in the clash between Byeol and Rook.
He replayed the outcome in his mind, frame by frame, trying to understand how the boy had managed to react in split seconds… and survive the explosion.
Almost imperceptibly, as he revisited the moment, a faint smile formed on his lips. He thought:
— "At the very last second… just before the arrow fully pierced his body… he reacted on instinct and managed to redirect a large portion of the explosion's energy directly into his domain."
Haneul took a deep breath.
— "And, by coincidence… or by an astonishingly precise instinct, the room he selected to receive the impact contained nothing but insignificant materials. It couldn't have been better."
He imagined himself in that room and what state he would be in.
Remnants of the explosion.
Burned floor and furniture.
Soot covering the ceiling.
And the mark of Rook's arrow embedded in a cracked wall.
— "Even so… it still affected this room a little."
He looked toward the wall near the door.
A deep crack ran through it - just short of shattering it entirely.
Haneul reflected again:
— "Only someone who has mastered Dimensional Vision at this level could do something like that. It's not just about opening portals to your dimension." — He paused briefly.
— "It's about thinking across multiple spaces at once, with precision, at an overwhelming speed. It's about existing in two places simultaneously… and controlling them as if they were one."
Haneul stood up and walked toward another door. Before leaving, he looked at Byeol, approached him, and placed a hand on his shoulder.
— You've grown, kid.
He continued forward and added:
— I'm going to rest. You should do the same.
— Yeah… I think I will.
Byeol finished his drink, then leaned his head back with a hand over his face, as if disappointed.
— "I need to get much stronger." — he thought.
He headed to his room. He undressed and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water fall over his body.
It was clear how much the last fight had taken a toll on him.
It was time to recover. To heal his wounds.
After the shower, Byeol leaned back against his pillow.
As soon as he closed his eyes, a dense layer of dust mixed with golden and yellow smoke began to slowly form in his subconscious—like his core continued to generate energy.
Byeol might be asleep… but his Iluminence never shut off.
Iluminence:
Energy acquired after Keiji.
Used by Visionaries as both fuel and source of power.
Through it, they are able to manifest visual abilities—as if humans touched by this energy had been enlightened… and elevated to something beyond.
Each individual possesses their own Iluminence reservoir, which can be influenced by various factors such as genetics, training, or even trauma.
Because they are limited by their Iluminence reserves, a Visionary's power also depends on how they use that energy
— directly affecting the effectiveness and duration of their techniques.
Several factors influence a Visionary's strength, including:
Iluminence Reservoir
Each Visionary has their own. A smaller reserve leads to quicker exhaustion; a larger one ensures greater endurance and stamina.
Control and Refinement
An essential factor for using energy with precision and efficiency.
Channeling and Synchronization
Emotions and trauma tend to influence the user's intensity and power.
Purity of the Eye
"Pure" eyes allow access to rarer and more unique abilities.
Iluminence Crystals
Rare items that temporarily amplify the user's abilities. They can be integrated into the body or attached to weapons.
Power Classes:
Based on this, Visionaries can be divided into classes:
Rank E – The majority of Visionaries. They possess an Iluminence reservoir but cannot use it. They are only slightly stronger and more resilient than a normal person. They typically live ordinary lives.
Rank D – Visionaries capable of using Iluminence moderately, often associated with weapon users in law enforcement. They cannot manifest techniques or ocular abilities.
Rank C – Skilled Visionaries. Capable of manipulating Iluminence fluidly and using various techniques tied to their type of vision. They can be civilians with some financial power, soldiers, beginner Rankers, or criminals.
Rank B – Often associated with specialists in certain Iluminence factors. They possess solid reserves and above-average control, capable of refining their techniques to near perfection. Most Rankers fall into this category, as well as members of government factions or independent groups.
Rank A – Rare. Usually tied to high-ranking positions in major organizations. Exceptional Iluminence users with full control over their visual techniques. Their battles rarely leave the environment intact.
Rank S – Exceptional beings, far beyond the rest. They wield techniques never seen before and nearly impossible to replicate. Some reach this level through ocular purity; others through tools or weapons that amplify their power to that tier.
Rank SS – Do they even exist…? Who knows!
Iluminence!
More than energy — it is the key that shapes the destiny of all humanity in the world of Mirai.
