Chapter 40 - Chapter 40:The Day the Sky Opened

It began without warning.

No messenger.

No signal.

Only a shadow.

At dawn—

The sky above the kingdom darkened.

Not with clouds.

With something else.

Something vast.

Something unnatural.

The people looked up.

And saw it.

Massive structures tore through the sky.

Not falling—

Arriving.

Metallic.

Silent.

Floating above the kingdom like unmoving gods.

The soldiers raised their weapons.

Useless.

Because instinct alone told them—

This was not a battle they understood.

A beam descended.

Not chaotic.

Perfectly straight.

It touched the outer walls of the kingdom—

And erased them.

No explosion.

No debris.

Gone.

The people screamed.

The army broke formation.

Commanders shouted orders that no longer mattered.

Because this was not war.

This was removal.

The King's Command

"Hold your ground!"

The king stood at the front.

Unmoving.

Even as the sky itself turned against them.

More beams formed.

Dozens.

Targeting the city.

Precise.

Unavoidable.

And then—

Everything stopped.

The Interruption

The beams froze.

Mid-descent.

Mid-existence.

At the center of the battlefield—

Aditya Varma stood.

Silent.

Calm.

Unshaken.

His hand lifted.

Not rushed.

Not strained.

The beams—

Shifted.

Not resisted.

Redirected.

They curved—

Away from the city.

Into the empty sky.

And vanished.

No one spoke.

No one moved.

Because what they had just seen—

Was impossible.

The blade formed in his hand.

Golden.

Still.

Unquestionable.

The structures above shifted.

Not retreating.

Adjusting.

Recognizing a threat.

This time—

They did not hold back.

The entire sky lit up.

Hundreds of beams formed.

All at once.

All aimed at one point.

Him.

Aditya stepped ahead of the army.

Alone.

No hesitation.

No command given.

Because none was needed.

The beams descended.

A storm of absolute destruction.

Enough to erase the entire kingdom.

Aditya raised the blade—

And swung.

Once.

The sky split.

Not metaphorically.

Literally.

The space above the kingdom—

Separated.

The beams entered—

And disappeared.

Gone into a divide they could not cross.

The structures faltered.

For the first time—

They stopped attacking.

Below—

The soldiers stared.

Not with fear anymore.

With something else.

Reverence.

Aditya lowered the blade.

The sky sealed itself again.

As if nothing had happened.

He looked upward.

Not at the machines—

At whoever controlled them.

"…this world is not yours to take."

The war had begun.

Not with armies clashing—

But with a single man standing against the sky itself.

And for the first time—

The ones who came to conquer—

Understood something they had never considered before.

This world—

Was already claimed.
