Chapter 50 - CHAPTER 50: Morning Light and Heartbeats

The first rays of sunlight spilled through the blinds, painting So Hee's apartment in soft gold.

Soo Bin stirred, blinking against the light, the events of last night a dizzying blur.

Her head throbbed slightly from the excitement, the alcohol, and the adrenaline, but the warmth beside her made everything else fade.

So Hee lay next to her, arm draped protectively over Soo Bin's waist. Her breath was calm, steady, and somehow reassuring.

Soo Bin shifted slightly, feeling the soft weight and closeness, heart pounding.

"Morning," So Hee murmured, brushing a strand of hair from Soo Bin's face. Her lips pressed lightly against her forehead in a gentle kiss.

Soo Bin smiled sleepily, burying her face in So Hee's chest.

"You… you were amazing last night," Soo Bin whispered, still catching her breath from both excitement and the lingering tension.

So Hee chuckled softly, a deep, warm sound that made Soo Bin melt a little more.

"I told you to stick close," So Hee said, voice teasing but filled with warmth. "And you did. Perfectly."

Soo Bin lifted her head, eyes meeting So Hee's. There was a spark there, unspoken yet intense.

"Lieutenant…" she murmured. "I—"

So Hee leaned closer, capturing her lips in a soft, lingering kiss.

It wasn't slow or hesitant. It was deliberate, passionate, and teasing, leaving Soo Bin gasping softly when they pulled apart for air.

The morning continued with playful intimacy. So Hee wrapped her arms around Soo Bin from behind as she leaned against the kitchen counter, making coffee.

Soo Bin laughed softly. "You're supposed to let me do things, you know."

"I'm helping," So Hee replied, pressing a kiss to the back of Soo Bin's neck. "You just like it when I take over."

Soo Bin squirmed, laughter bubbling through her, unable to hide the blush creeping across her cheeks.

"So… breakfast?" Soo Bin asked, voice soft, teasing.

So Hee attempted to make hangover soup, stirring clumsily while muttering about proportions and taste.

Soo Bin took a sip and winced.

"It's… um… unique," she said, cheeks heating, but she smiled and drank it anyway.

So Hee narrowed her eyes, pretending to glare. "You're lying."

Soo Bin shook her head, smiling warmly. "Even if it's terrible, I like it because you made it."

So Hee chuckled, stepping closer to brush a kiss against Soo Bin's forehead. "Fine. You win this round."

After breakfast, they prepared for work.

Soo Bin picked up So Hee's cloth, inhaling the faint scent of her perfume that lingered on the fabric. A soft smile tugged at her lips.

"This… this is my favorite," she whispered, holding it close.

So Hee leaned down behind her, pressing her cheek against Soo Bin's shoulder.

"I like it when you notice," she murmured, voice low, teasing.

The morning passed with laughter, gentle teasing, soft kisses on the cheek and forehead, and lingering touches that spoke more than words ever could.

The bond between them deepened, rooted in trust, closeness, and the thrill of surviving a dangerous night together.

And as they left the apartment to face the day, Soo Bin couldn't stop smiling.

She was with So Hee.

Protected by her, cherished by her, and more in love than she had ever been.
